Haiti School

2009 Haiti Missions TripDates: June 20 – August 8 — Work/Evangelism

Haiti is still a nation that is in desperate need of help after the devastating earthquake of 2010.

After training is completed at the Lord’s Boot Camp, you will head to the Orlando International Airport for your flight to PortAuPrince, Haiti (via Miami). Upon arrival you bus 50 miles north to the village of Saint Marc, located on the Caribbean Sea.

Your project is to continue construction of a 60’ x 80’ two-story school building. After all the upheaval in this country, it will be a blessing to provide the stability of a new school for these children. Housing for the team will be in tents; bathing and laundry is done using a bucket. You will also have opportunities to share with the Haitians through drama, puppets, singing and presentations.

Haiti has been in darkness for nearly 100 years and your selfless work will help bring the Gospel light to many who live in fear and hopelessness. While in Haiti, you may have the chance to go swimming in the Caribbean Sea.

There will be time to barter for souvenirs such as hand-crafted items, paintings and t-shirts, to remind you of your summer before heading back to Florida for Debrief.

Estimated Project Expense: $2990 U.S. plus $30 Registration Fee

About webmaster

I have been on staff with Teen Missions since Nov. 2001.

  1. So you would pay the $2990 AND $30 to go?

  2. I had a question about the cover-up…Can it be a long skirt and shirt? Or does it have to be a long, dress-like piece of clothing? Thanks!

    • Bekah, Yes it can. I would suggest you go to the lingerie dept. and get a long tee shirt that comes to the knees. That works best.

  3. will we do any evangelism? and is it helpful to be able to speak french?

  4. Are there still spots for girls on this trip, and is it too late to sign up?

  5. katy for haiti cragg

Beth Kosher are you our team leader if so friend me, katyforhaiti cragg, and you can be in our group

  6. SO! everyone who is going on this trip needs to log on to their facebook accounts right now and add Alyssa Hallock (from friday harbor washington) I will then add you to our facebook group! I can not believe the team is practically full (probably is now) i’m so very excited to meet all of you and share this wonderful experience together! stoked! see you in 125 days!

  7. Hey, Are there any more spots for girls on this trip?

  8. I just finished registering and put Haiti trip as #1 choice. How do I know if I was able to be placed in that trip? Thanks!

  9. Is this trip now full?

  10. Is there still room for girls? Do you have to be a US citizen to apply and how long is the bootcamp?

  11. Is there still room for girls?

  12. I am involved with a young life christian group and we are considering a mission trip this summer. Could you please forward some ifo.

    • Bruce, Most of our information can be found on our website. If you have specific questions, please email them to us.

  13. Is it to late to sign up for the boys team?

    • Thomas, Right now, Haiti is full to boys, but there is no one on the waiting list. You can start raising support for another team and then switch when there is an opening.

  14. do you have to be like really religious and involved in church to do this?

    • Melissa, We do not screen the kids, but we do screen the leaders. Part of what you will be doing is evangelism and that is really the best part of the summer. We have kids become Christians at Boot Camp every year.

  15. I was just looking through your website & wondering if you have read When Helping Hurts by Steve Corbett & Brian Fikkert. I have not read it but it certainly has a different take on how we serve & minister to developing countries.

    If you have, any thoughts?

  16. This trip looks like a lot of fun and a good learning and growing expirence. I have a few questions though …
Is this trip already filled up?
if not how many spots are left?
and is the training included with the 4weeks?

    • Carolyn, It is full to boys and we have a couple of spots for girls. The dates include Boot Camp, project time and Debrief.

  17. Beth
Please put me on the waiting list. I did not add a second or third choice on my registration. Is it possible for you to list the Bahamas trip as my 2nd choice and the Trinidad trip as my third choice. What happens when I go on the waiting list?

    • Jordan, We will put you on Bahamas. When a spot opens up, we will call or email you and you can decide if you still want to switch. There would be a $30 switch fee to provide you with new prayer cards and letters.

  18. I noticed you mentioned there is still room for girls on this trip. I just put in my registration today. Is there still room for guys on the trip?

  19. Is it too late to register? I stumbled upon this, and have been wanting to go on a mission trip for a few years now.

  20. Hi, I had a few questions concerning this and other trips, but I cannot find the email to send it to. Could I get the address please?

  21. Hey guys,
if you guys are signed up for this team, will you please Facebook me with a message saying you’re on the team, so so i can add you to the Haiti team page.

  22. I am 12 years old, but it said this is a teen trip, would i still be able to go?

  23. Hello i am 17 is that too old to go?

  24. are there still spots for girls

  25. How many kids are currently on this team for 2012?

  26. Are the girls sports filled?

  27. Meredith Chatfield

I’ve been praying for a while now that God would lead me to an international mission trip that is in my budget and this one costs just as much as the in states one! I’m so excited :) I want to experience at least one out of states mission before I go on to a missionary college, and I pray this will be the one! But if anyone could, please pray for me. I hope I can raise the money, but if it’s God’s will he won’t let me down, Jesus has got my back :) Also I was wondering when the cut off date for registration was??

    • Meredith, The cut off date is the day before Boot Camp. However, the longer you wait, the fewer choices you have. The sooner you register, the more time you have to raise your support.

  28. Rachel Gonzalez-Rodriguez

I would love to go on this trip and others. However, I cannot afford a $3000-$4000 trip! However, hopefully later in the future I can go as a leader! Is there certain requirements to meet? What do you have to do?

    • Rachel, We provide prayer cards and letters to help you raise your support. Very few pay for these trips themselves (or parents)—almost all raise their support.

  29. Hi my name is Christina. I believe this would be an amazing opportunity in 2012. However I am already going on a $4000 trip to Ecuador in May 2012. I would really need some time to pray about this and determine if the funds will come through for all of this. So my Question is, when is the last possible dates that you would be taking registrations for this trip? If you could please email me at [email protected]. Thank You

    • Christina, Teams are filled on a first-come, first-serve basis. At some point we have to increase or reduce seats with the airlines on each team. Once a team if filled, it is full and we cannot place any more team members on it.

  30. hey im really interested in joining a mission, but do we have to complete training at the “Lord’s bootcamp” or can we just meet up at the airport?

  31. Is there fundraising help if you want to go on these trips but dont have the means to?

    • Celina, We will provide prayer letters and prayer cards for you to send out to family and friends to help you raise your support. You can also do other things such as garage sales, etc. to help.

  32. Hey when is the deadline to sign up im thinking about going on this trip

    • Molly, The sooner you sign up, the more time you will have to raise your support. The teams are filled on a first come, first serve basis.

  33. is boot camp included in the dates of June 20 – August 8th?

  34. How can I get information sent to my house?

  35. I registered for this team last week, and I was wondering when I would receive my trip cinformation. Thanks.

    • Turner, We are still trying to get everything from this past summer processed and put away. You will not hear anything until probably September. However, if we received your payment, you will get your first choice.

  36. How long are we in Haiti? are we going to be stopping anywhere for a period of time? Are there electrical plug ins to charge my camera battery?

    • Hannah, You will need to bring a camera with disposable batteries as electricity will NOT be available. You will fly directly to Haiti, have the listed sightseeing and you should be in Haiti about four weeks.

  37. Shawna Ledgerwood

ok so i am going to share this because the LORD wanted me to share my amazing experence. i just went to a week long church camp. The LORD opened my eyes and taught me so many things. Some of those things i learned are….
~The only thing to fear is GOD. nothing else.
~God can heal your physical bodies just as well as your emotions :)
~Be like Jacob… and by that i mean that when you want a blessing from God. keep fighting. if you want GOD to bless your home. give it to him and ask him. If you want him to use to ask him.
    ~What is love?….. GOD!
Now i am superly sooperly excited for Haiti next summer :)))

  38. Shawna Ledgerwood

Is it too early to register? I’m so excited to go. was choosing which place to go and The LORD put this one on my heart,! im so excited!!! ::))))

  39. Paula Wimberley

I have been praying earnestly that the Lord would continue to mold my heart so that I would be able to recognize my “calling” for next summer as soon as it came along. As I began reading the description for this project, my heart nearly leaped out of my chest! The dates fit perfectly for when I am available and the Boot Camp included would make it an even more outstanding opportunity for me to truly understand what it means to give my all and live courageously for the Kingdom! I look forward to learning more details about this organization and the steps that I need to take to begin my journey!
