Zambia Water Filters

2010 Zambia Adult Missions TripDates: June 20 – August 8 — Work/Evangelism

Imagine knowing that the water you have been drinking could make you horribly sick, but being unable to do anything about it. This is a reality that thousands of children in Africa face everyday.

After your training at the Lord’s Boot Camp, you bus to Orlando for a flight to Dulles International Airport in our nation’s capital, Washington, D.C. Your next flight crosses the Atlantic Ocean, France, the Mediterranean Sea and over the Sahara Desert to Addis Ababa, Ethiopia. The team will take a connecting flight to Lusaka, Zambia. From the airport, a five-hour bus ride takes you to the Teen Missions in Zambia BiBle, Missionary & Work Training Center in Ndola.

While in Zambia you will travel to several different AIDS Orphans Rescue Units to set up bucket water filters that will provide hundreds of people with safe, clean drinking water. There will be many opportunities to share the Living Water, Jesus Christ, using music, drama, puppets and testimonies. Spend time playing with the children, teaching them your games and learning theirs. The orphans are eager for your love and attention, and you will make memories for years to come.

Housing is in tents; bathing and laundry will be done using buckets. Before leaving Zambia, a trip is planned to Victoria Falls, located on the mighty Zambezi River, one of the Seven Natural Wonders of the World discovered by David Livingstone in 1855. You will enjoy viewing this breathtaking waterfall known as the “Smoke that Thunders”.

Wood and stone carvings, batiks, copper bracelets, jewelry and traditional drums are just some of the souvenirs you will be able to bring home to your friends and family.

Estimated Project Expense: $4690 U.S. plus $30 Registration Fee

I am coming to the commissioning service. The booklet said I could leave something in a designated area for after the service. Could you give me some ideas of what is practical and how many are on her team if I can bring something to share.
    Thanks,

    Rachel’s Mom

Carol, There are 25 total on her team. Some bring cokes and candy. Others bring fruit and juices. It is up to you.

  3. Todd Harris

Will the two boot camps overlap? Or will the early teams leave before the others arrive?

    1. Beth Kostner

Todd, The Early is commissioned on June 24 and Super arrives June 19-20, so they do overlap for the Missions Conference.

What are the approximate dimensions that the cardboard box we’re bringing to boot camp should be?

    1. Beth Kostner

Devan, Check with the airline that you are flying on what their limits are. It will vary depending on the airline.
