Gurning, Lasta

Lasta Gurning was born and raised in Indonesia. She first became involved with Teen Missions in Indonesia through the BIBLE, MISSIONARY & WORK (BMW) Training Center in Tangerang. She learned many things while attending Bible school. One of the biggest lessons she learned was not from a teacher but from ministering to the local children. Before coming to BMW she didn’t like children or care about them. After spending each weekend operating Good News Bible Clubs for the local children, God began to teach her how valuable children are. She realized that if God loves the children, then she should as well. After finishing Bible school she was asked by the BMW coordinator if she would like do her internship in Canada. She readily accepted and on December 10, 2007, she arrived in Canada. Though Canada is very different from Indonesia she is enjoying the new country. She serves as an assistant to the Teen Missions staff by doing office work and helping with Teen Missions promotions at mission conferences and other events. She hopes to continue to serve with Teen Missions in Canada after her internship is completed and is looking forward to what lies ahead.
