OfflineJust a few questions…
1.If I only bring enough shampoo, body wash, toothpaste, etc. for boot camp, will I be able to buy more when I am on the mission field?
2. If I bring a guitar does it have to be in a hard case, or is a soft gig bag ok?
3. I know we can't wear pajama pants while working on the mission field like we can at boot camp, but are we allowed to bring them overseas just to sleep in?

OfflineThe self-inflating mat and fleece sleeping bag should be fine for Boot Camp and for where you are going, unless you are going somewhere cold. We will issue work gloves, a poncho, and water bottle. You will get a backpack for travel. However, you might want to bring an old one for Boot Camp and leave it for Debrief or put it in the Missionary Barrel. The poncho is not top quality, so if you are going somewhere with a lot of rain, you might want to bring an extra one for the field. You might also want another pair of work gloves for the field. A fan is a nice treat at Boot Camp. Some bring the smaller ones and carry them around Boot Camp and use them in classes, etc. Some bring the bigger portable ones (around one foot square) that take a TON of D batteries and use those in the tent. The fans go through batteries quickly.

OfflineI saw some people recommended bringing a little battery-operated portable fan. Is this reasonable, or necessary?
If necessary, would it be a little hand-held fan or a small boxy-type fan? I just don't want to waste money on something that will either break right away, or that will use up tons of batteries.
Anyone have any success with bringing a fan on TMI, and what kind did you bring?
Thanks! My daughter is going to Panama.

OfflineYes, you may bring lotion if it fits in your weight limit. Duffels are issued upon arrival and are yours to keep. Some team members bring their stuff in a plastic tote and use it during Boot Camp and then donate it after Boot Camp or use it to store their things to save for Debrief and then donate the tote.

OfflineI understand the suggestion to pack in a box to get to boot camp. It is my understanding that the box will be discarded upon arrival. I also understand that there is a mission barrel and it is suggested that boot camp clothing be donated. I also understand the standard issue duffle bag upon arrival. But my question is how do the kids get their things home? Everything they bring won't be donated. Teen Missions keeps the duffle bag after debrief. What are they supposed to use for the return flight? Does my daughter need to bring some kind of bag/suitcase for the return home? I haven't seen any suggestions for this type of item on any packing list.
