Sean was born in California, but grew up in Lexington, North Carolina. He was raised in a Christian home and was home schooled all his life. He was very active in his church and has helped put on a Christian concert with one of his friend’s bands. He went on his first Teen Missions team, The Sea Angels, in 1999.
Since that year he has been going on Teen Missions teams every summer. In 2000, the Lord led him to Trinidad to help build a church. In 2001 he went to Mozambique and then led Romania in 2002. During the summer of 2002, the Lord laid it on his heart to go into full-time ministry and join the Teen Missions BIBLE, MISSIONARY & WORK (BMW) Training Center in Florida. During his time at BMW, Sean was able to help lead the 2003 Ecuador Team, as well as Nehemiah’s Training Site Peanut Team and Orphan Forest Preteen Team in 2004. He finished his studies in the summer of 2004.
Sharon was born into a Christian military family on the little island of Guam. Her mother is from the Philippines and her father is from Youngstown, Ohio. Six years later she and her family moved to San Diego, California. This was where she was raised and went to school. She went on her first mission trip to Tijuana at the age of 9 where she helped build a house. Since then, Sharon has been following the Lord’s command to “Go” and has gone all over Mexico and Los Angeles with YWAM’s King’s Kids.
Her first summer with Teen Missions was in 2000 when she went to Egypt. On her second mission trip with Teen Missions she left the morning after her high school graduation in 2002. This trip took her backpacking on Mt. Kilimanjaro in Tanzania. That winter, Sharon joined the BIBLE, MISSIONARY & WORK Training Center in Florida and completed her studies in the fall of 2004. She was a leader on two of the International Costume Choir Peanut Teams, as well as Music Festival Teen Team in 2003 and the Indiana Puppet Clown Preteen Team in 2004. While she was a student, Sharon also worked in International Operations and AIDS Orphans and Street Children.
Sharon and Sean met at BMW in the winter of 2002. The Lord opened their eyes to each other, but they decided to wait for the Lord’s timing. Nine months later they started dating and were engaged on New Year’s Eve 2004. A few months after Sharon finished BMW they were married in San Diego on March 12, 2005. One month later they found their way back to Teen Missions in Florida where they spent their year of internship.
After their first summer leading a team together, Rain Forest Preteen, they were asked to go to Belize and help set up the new base for a Boot Camp and Bible School. They accepted and left for Belize on December 30, 2005. Belize was full of extraordinary challenges for them and they accepted every single one of them. They felt that throughout their entire lives they have never worked so hard! It was only through the Lord’s strength that so much work was done. They met many nice people there and really enjoyed it.
About three months after they arrived in Belize, they found out Sharon was nine weeks pregnant. This made it very difficult for them to stay in Belize, so they asked to return to the States and work in the Florida office. Sharon returned to the states just in time to do reception for Boot Camp and Sean came a month after to lead a Florida preteen team. They weren’t able to see the results of the work in Belize through the Boot Camp, but heard that it went really well. Their first child, Kieley Theonah Deegan, was born on November 28, 2006.
Since then, they have been leading teams every summer with teen Missions and have been traveling all over the world doing so. Ex. Indiana Preteen 2007, France 2008 and Ireland 2010. They didn’t lead a team in 2009 due to another pregnancy. On June 18, 2009 a new member was brought into the family, Aiden Patrick Deegan.
Today, Sean serves in the Finance/Mailroom department, taking care of incoming and outgoing mail. Sharon is a stay-at-home mom, taking care of their two children, Kieley and Aiden. Sean will be leading the Trinidad team this year while Sharon stays home with the kids and soon to be newborn. She is pregnant with their third child who should be arriving sometime early September 2011.
