All 26 of us arrived safely to our project site at 4:30 Wednesday morning. We spent the rest of the day sleeping, washing clothes, bathing and getting settled in. We have mostly recovered from our three days of travel. The team enjoyed spending the night in the Miami Airport, although the constant reminders overhead of the “current local time” did get somewhat tiresome. Both flights went smoothly. Our sightseeing adventure in London was a smash hit. We took a “flight” on the London Eye, saw the changing of the guards at Buckingham Palace, the London Tower, the London Bridge and the Tower Bridge. We also ate some authentic English “Fish N’ Chips”. We were able to see a little of the three separate cities that make up the one “big” city of London (which is the smallest capital city of the world). Our tour guide was very informative and entertaining. We were grateful for our London experience. Our home for the next month is like something out of a fairy tale. YWAM’s base sits on a hill overlooking a river and countryside dotted with small towns and farms. It is a wonderful reminder of just how creative our God is. The cooler, but still warm weather is a welcome change from Florida’s heat. The team is happy and well. However, some have colds which is to be expected with all the travel. We will finish settling on Thursday and begin work on Friday. Our leadership wants to let you know just how special your children have made this summer experience to us so far. Thank you for sharing them with us and allowing us to serve them as well as be served by them. We recognize how important each one is to you and we do not take that responsibility lightly.
