Woohoo! What a weekend…Since last Thursday a lot has happened. It’s funny how much you can fit into a day. Where to begin? Well, after work on Thursday, we adjusted our schedule for evangelism on Friday. Jaja had to purchase more supplies to continue work on the wagons so we took that as an opportunity to head out into town and share the gospel. As many of you well know, it can be very nerve-racking and hard for us as fellow Americans to evangelize here. Christianity is not always warmly welcomed in some places. Friday morning we spent a few hours preparing the team and leaders for how to effectively share the gospel in large groups or one-on-one. Right after lunch we headed to Cocoa Beach where the team could do an open-air presentation right on the beach. The presentation went very well and the attitude of the team was very positive. Not many people paid attention to us but we still were heard. Jaja preached the gospel openly and really moved us all as a group. He was so bold for Christ…saying “God made all of this you see around you and your laughter you share with each other is to glorify Him.” Also, “Christ came to die for you and me because He cares for you so much.” After He shared, the team sang and did a puppet show they each went out to pass out tracks and talk to people relaxing on the beach. Saturday we headed to another beach area to relax and hang out as a team for a bit. That was so fun! Then Sunday we went to Calvary Chapel and had a great time worshipping and hearing from the Word. The pastor talked about waiting on the Lord. He spoke out of Nehemiah and from the book of Acts. It was such an impact. Then in the evening we headed back out to the church to interact with the youth group and do a presentation for them. They had a time of sharing testimonies about what God is doing in their lives and the floor was open to share. A few of our team members got up and shared personal testimonies of so much. Yamile talked of how she has really resisted those in authority over her and is growing to respect and obey. Sarah shared of her need to fully surrender every part of her life to the Lord and quit hanging on. Monday was back to our regular schedule of work and classes and stuff. Two wagons are now covered and look almost completely ready. Testimony from Jon – “When I first became a Teen Missions team member I was disrespectful, angry, and was not close to God yet. I believed and knew of Him and who He is but not having a close relationship with Him yet. The part I hated about this summer at the beginning was the verse packets, I now love them with a passion. What I loved about Boot Camp was the Obstacle Course at 6 o’clock in the mornin’ and getting sweaty and dirty. I am growing more and more in Christ each day and am working on my disrespect and how to grow and mature into a better Christian example.” With testimonies like this, we as leaders are so thankful to the Lord for how He works in each of their lives. God has been working in my (Rachel) life about being patient and waiting on Him and His timing for everything. I am learning to rest in Him more fully and to trust and believe He will take care of everything. Proverbs 3:5-6 “Trust in the Lord with ALL your heart and lean not on your own understandings, in all your ways acknowledge Him and He will make your paths straight.” Isaiah 40:31 “But they that wait upon the Lord shall renew their strength, they shall mount up with wings as eagles, they shall run and not be weary and they shall walk and not faint.” Romans 8:28 “And we know that all things work together for good, to them that love God, to them who are the called according to His purpose.” and Philippians 1:6 “Being confident of this very thing that He which hath begun a good work in you, will perform it until the day of Jesus Christ.” Thank you for your prayers…We miss and love you all- You are in our thoughts and prayers.
