Missions Trip to Ecuador

Mission Trip Dates: June 23 – August 10 — Work/Evangelism

Sitting astride the Equator, the country of Ecuador is one of the most ecologically and culturally diverse nations in the world.

After Boot Camp training, this team buses to Orlando International Airport to board a flight that crosses the Caribbean Sea to Central America’s Panama City. From there a connecting flight travels south to Quito, the capital city of Ecuador, which lies high in the Andes Mountains. Continuing south by bus, the team will arrive outside the city of Latacunga at the Teen Missions BIBLE, MISSIONARY & WORK Training Center, 9,350 feet above sea level in the mountains.

You will enjoy the change in temperature after hot, steamy Boot Camp, and the views of Mt. Cotopaxi, the highest active volcano in the world and Mt. Iliniza will provide many photo op- portunities. Your project will be to build a covered water cistern, which will give the base a clean water supply.

At the same time you will help prepare for the national Boot Camp, and may get to help teach classes and monitor the Obstacle Course once the training begins. A visit to La Mitad del Mundo will allow you to stand with one foot in the Northern Hemisphere and one in the Southern Hemisphere.

Be ready for souvenir hunting and bartering in the many markets, which will sell a huge variety of woven, ceramic and wooden goods made by the indigenous people. Have your camera ready when you visit the old city of Quito, a World Heritage site. Enjoy a drive through the ancient cobbled streets and see the beautifully restored old buildings.

Project Expense: $3190 U.S. plus Registration Fee

About webmaster

I have been on staff with Teen Missions since Dec. 1978

  1. I have a quick question. In the General Fact Sheet it says “no tank tops” and I know we can’t wear a tank top by itself. But I was wondering if that also means we can’t bring them to wear under shirts.

  2. Beth,
I know I probably read this somewhere but planning out our trip and wondering what time on the 23rd do team members need to be dropped off and about how far is Boot Camp from Orlando?

    • Ally, If you are driving in, you must be here by 10 AM on the 23rd. We are about an hour from Orlando.

  3. When do we receive the Specific Team Fact Sheet?

  4. Christian Gentry

No we will be in latanunga alot and i was wondering if maybe i could visit a friend of a friend that lives in latanunga ecuador.

    • Christian, You cannot leave the team. However, your friend may visit with the permission of the leadership.

  16. Hi Beth,
Don’t know if you remember me- Allyson Graham. India( 23 years ago or so), years and years ago, I was a young 13 year old. I have two daughters that want to go on this trip. Kirianna and Katerina Oswald. We sent application and registration via email.( had some trouble with the second fee confirming) Are you going to be team leaders on this trip? If so, I am so excited. I can’t believe it. India changed me and my life and put me on the path with Christ. You will always be so dear to me in my memories and as mentors in my walk with God. May God bless you.
    Ally Oswald

    • Ally, SOOOO good to hear from you!!!! No, we are not leading that team (at this point) as we are scheduled to be on summer staff this summer. Thank you for the encouragement. We look forward to meeting your daughters!

  17. What is the email address for more information?

  18. When I went to Ecuador (2009) we stayed in the dorms with hot showers and did laundry in a bucket, but it might have changed since then…

  19. Would showers and laundry be done in a bucket?

  20. Would we be in tents?

  21. This trip is an answer to pray for me. I have been learning about the lives of the five missionaries killed in the jungles of Ecuador by the Auca indians in 1956 and feeling God calling me towards missionary work, specifically in Ecuador. I’ve been praying the Lord would show me a way I could start to work towards my goal even now while I’m young, and I came across this. Is there any other information you could send me regarding this trip?
