Orphan Angels MSSM II | Teen Missions Trip

2009 Zambia Missions Trip

Using motorcycles to reach remote villages with the Gospel

Mission Trip Dates: June 23 – August 14, 2011

Imagine hundreds of children eagerly anticipating the sound of your motorcycles, announcing your arrival for Sunday School to begin! See this first hand as you ride to remote locations to assist the Motorcycle Sunday School Mission (MSSM) Circuit Rider Missionaries teach Sunday schools, literacy classes and Bible quizzing.

After completing specialized motorcycle training at the Lord’s Boot Camp, you bus to Orlando for a flight to Lusaka, Zambia via Dulles International Airport; Rome, Italy; and Addis Ababa, Ethiopia. A five-hour bus ride will take you to the Teen Missions in Zambia BIBLE, MISSIONARY & WORK Training Center in Ndola.

At the base there will be time to familiarize yourselves on the Zambian roads, looking the opposite direction for turns and riding on the left side of the road. Then it is time to repack your duffle bag, tents and food supplies to begin your MSSM Circuit.

Bible stories, singing, learning memory verses, coloring pictures, quizzing and playing games are all creative ways to teach your lessons. You can also teach phonics classes to help the children learn how to read.

Housing will be in tents; bathing and laundry is done using buckets. Before leaving Zambia, a trip to Victoria Falls, one of the Seven Natural Wonders of the World discovered by David Livingstone in 1855, is planned. You will enjoy viewing this breathtaking waterfall known as the “Smoke that Thunders”. Wood carvings, batiks, jewelry and traditional drums are just a few of the souvenirs available for you to purchase.

IMPORTANT INFORMATION: Team members must be at least 16 years old and have a valid U.S. or Canadian driver’s license.

Project Expense: $4890 U.S. plus Registration Fee

About webmaster

I have been on staff with Teen Missions since Dec. 1978

  1. Who will the leaders for this trip be?

  2. I was just wondering if this trip will be available next year (2012) and you would do the same thing. I’m very interested and will be 16 next year and I would really like to go.

  3. How many adults would be supervising these kids in Zambia?

  4. does the cost inclued vaccination shots? what are the specific goals of this mission team? is registration still open?

    • Jessi, This team is still open. You are responsible for any vaccinations or medications that your doctor recommends. The purpose is to present the gospel in remote areas of Zambia.

  5. Hey Beth, are there still boy spots available?

  6. Hey I stongly suggest this team! I went in 2008 and it was the summer of a lifetime. Like you said Melissa, if it is God’s will for you to go, he will provide the funds. It is hard not to worry about it, but our God is amazing and does things that might seem impossible.I still needed $2500 dollars at the beginning of May and i left the beginning of June. On one sunday i got $2000 through my churches offering. It was the most amazing thing to see happen. Don’t let the cost of the team stop you from going. OA is a fun and unique team. The african childrens joy for life will give you a new perspective on yours. Teen Missions is an amazing organization! Praying for you all! 🙂

  7. I will hope fully be getting a job soon so i will try to save up for it

  8. i am very interested in going on one of these missions next summer, but am short on cash, will there be a found raiser?

    • Sean, We provide Prayer Cards and Letters to help you raise your support. The sooner you sign up, the more time you have to raise the needed funds. You can also have car washes, etc. and contact businesses.

  9. Is debrief in etheopia?

  10. I was thinking about the 2012 trip (i know this is way in advance) but i will not be turning 16 until may 8, right before the trip would that be a problem?

  11. When does a deposit have to be made and how much is it? A friend told me that even if you aren’t sure if God is telling you to do something, if it serves Him, you should do it anyway because it will only draw you closer to him. However…it seems to me that the only way to get the money to pay is if God’s wants me to go specifically. What do you think?

    • Melissa, We ask that $300 be sent in the first 30 days. However, we will not cancel you if that is not in. The total cost is definitely due the day you arrive at Boot Camp. However, we ask that you not “hold” money as there are many things we have to pay for up front (airline tickets, food, etc.). If you feel God is leading you, then go ahead and register. We will send you prayer cards and letters to help you raise your support. I think you will be amazed at how God provides!

  12. When will we know the exact price? or do you guys know yet?

  13. Oh and this is for teens ? I will 18 when the time comes around but i was just wondering the age rang?

  14. Hey 🙂 So i was just wondering since i am from Canada would i have to buy my own ticket to orlando or is that covered with the missions trip? and i was wondering when would we actually need the money by? and is there any way i can get into more details about this trip?

    • If this is the team you want, you will be responsible for the round trip airfare to and from Orlando. The money is due by the day you arrive at the latest. However, we will call you before doing the final booking of the plane tickets. Once that is done, it is a non-refundable ticket. If you do not think you will have the money by that time, you can switch to a lesser expensive team. Please call or email us with your specific questions. Please note that we have added two teams to accommodate Canadians and the need to have a later start.

  15. I live in Canada and by the summer I will have my G2 license which is a step down from my full license (which is a G).I can drive on my own and everything, it’s just not a full license. Could I still go on this team?

  16. Can you bring a guitar on the OA team??

    • Kerry, Yes, you may bring a guitar. However, if there are several guitars, some may be left to be picked up at Debrief.

  17. sorry eighteen

  18. Where I live its like a step before your license. I can drive by myself, but I can’t have a person whom I don’t live with, unless they are twenty one.

  19. Does a Maryland provisional license count? Cause where I live we can’t have a full license till we are eighteen.

  20. What are the dates for this MSSM II?

  21. How many people usually go on these types of trips? A couple girlfriends and I were thinking about it… what would we need to do to prepare?

    • Jennifer-We take up to 25 team members. We do the training here at Boot Camp. However, you will need a valid US or Canadian Driver’s License. If interested, please register online.

  22. i am a new christian and i dont really feel comfrontable teaching a sunday school, but i can teach english, will this be a problem

    • The team will not be teaching English. We will train you on how to teach and what to do. Most do not feel comfortable teaching as they have never done it before.
