Our trip began with an 8 hour 40 minute flight from Orlando to Frankfurt, Germany. We were in transit for about 10 hours, so we explored the terminal and found a good place for the team to ‘camp’. Our next flight to Ekaterinburg, Russia was about 5 more hours and took us through the dawn and into Thursday morning. All of our 25 duffles arrived safely with us but we experienced a long delay at customs where they weighed our carry-ons and duffles and charged a fee based on their weight. We were greeted by our American volunteers Carol & Eivind Bray and loaded our bus for the four hour road trip to Teen Missions base in Krasnya Niva on the outskirts of the town of Shadrinsk.
There has been a lot of rain here and the weather has been cool. The team moved in and enjoyed their first Russian meal prepared by the Russian Boot Camp cooks of noodles, salad, bread and a hot Russian fruit drink called ‘Campot’. We stayed awake (mostly) until evening by unpacking our food and TMI equipment and then headed to bed at about 7:30 pm. Twenty-eight Russian teens are now in their Boot Camp training with nine national leaders. We are grateful to the Lord to be here with them and to have the opportunity to help in their training. Today the team helped with teaching music, puppets and drama. We have been invited by the town mayor to attend the annual settlement festival tomorrow. We hope to share the good news through music, puppets, testimonies and drama. We may also have our first sports evangelism in a combined soccer game at tomorrow’s festival. We are all healthy and blessed. Thank you for your prayers.
