The team enjoyed a busy week-end here at the TMI base in Sao Miguel. On Saturday morning the team joined with 13 brazilian staff, students and volunteers, grabbed a box of christian literature and went to the town market. The place was very busy and we broke the team up in pairs each group being led by one of the Brazilians. They had a great time and very soon the whole town knew that the team was here. When we returned to the base the team put in a hard few hours of work and were then rewarded with a hour hike through the jungle of our base. That was a real adventure! We got back just in time to get cleaned up, have dinner and head back into town to participate in a youth service at one of the local Baptist churches. Sunday we hit on another part of town with literature and in the evening went to a Foursquare Gospel Church where we participated in both evening services. They sang a portuguese song that they had learnt at Boot Camp. Maddie, Melissa, Bethany, Katlyn and Stephen performed a drama very well. Testimonies were given by Maddie, Melissa and Bethany. And both leaders Justin and Bobbie preached.
Today we were super blessed when a tractor showed up to help pull out some stumps that are in the area of our dormitory that the team is building. What took two days for us to pull out one stump, the tractor took just one hour to pull out six. God answered prayer even before we had a chance to ask it and so now we can concentrate on laying brick. After just today they have got two walls up to about head height. This dorm is about 70ft by 25ft. We are also digging a ditch that is over 1000ft long for a much needed water line and we hope to have that completed by Thursday. Pray for the team because that is a lot of digging! So far they are still enthusiastic and putting in a lot of hard work. We praise God for this group of young people who have come to bless our base so much. If it wasn’t for them this dorm would not be a reality.
