China team visits Terra Cotta

The China team just got in this morning from our sightseeing trip to the Terra Cotta Warriors. Everyone is resting or getting caught up on laundry. We will resume work after lunch.

We took the overnight train to Xian and then a bus to the site of the TCW. The train trip went well (except for the bathrooms…) and everyone got some sleep. Once we arrived, we had a picnic lunch and then divided into our shopping groups. After everyone got a cold drink, we went to see everything. We were all impressed with the detail of the statues and the story behind them. It was fascinating for everyone.

Afterwards, we all had a blast shopping for souvenirs. We found some are better at bartering than others. “Hey, look what I got for 100 RMB.” “Yeah, I got the same thing for 20!”. Once we finished shopping, we either ate sandwiches or went to McDonalds or KFC.

We then went to the bus station and some went shopping AGAIN. We boarded our bus at 8:30 PM. We were so excited as everyone had a “semi-comfortable” bed to sleep on. Once we got settled, they let more on to sleep on the floors. However, they didn’t want to sleep there, but share bunks with us (which of course we didn’t allow). After we got that straightened out, everyone fell asleep for the 11 hour journey back.

We are now safely back “home”. Everyone is tired, but healthy. We are looking forward to getting back into our routine.

  1. Hi Everyone! I love this website and the updates. Abbey, we are so proud of what you and your team are doing in China. It’s great to see your smiling face in the pictures that have been posted. Stay safe and healthy. Get as much rest as you can, but be sure to take some quiet time to recoup. Can’t wait to hear all about this experience when you get home! Love, Auntie Carla!

  2. Thanks for the updates. It sounds like everyone is well, learning a lot and enjoying God’s world. I’m really looking forward to hearing all about camp next week with all the children. Abbey, me, dad and Hannah miss you terribly. Keep jumping in front of the camera Babe! ;o)

  3. Sounds like an amazing experience!

  4. Ali Logan,
We are thrilled that all is going well. Mom Logan shared in service about your activities and we prayed for you. I’m so pleased that you are stepping out of your comfort zone and following God’s leading. We love and miss you. Pray that God moves in a BIG way this week at MHC.
