The weather is amazing!
We spent our first ten days in the village of Satitoa in the tsunami area. We were hosted by the local pastor, Afa and his family at the Christan Congregational Church. We had an amazing time there and loved waking to watch the sunrise over the ocean. We were able to lay block and pour concrete to build 7 pads for water tanks for families in the village. The people were very kind and were always providing food and drink to the team as they worked. Each evening, we would do puppets and songs with the youth in the village. We would have 30-50 kids come each evening. Our time there was a blessing and we even enjoyed a few swims in the ocean. Our last night, the church people prepared a traditional Samoan feast for the team that included bread fruit, pork, coconut cream. herring, chop suey and more! It was all good!! We ate and enjoyed presentations and dances from the youth of the church and our team shared as well. We hated to leave and say good-bye to our new found friends.
The team has been working so well together and they are an amazing group of kids. They have been taking turns leading devotions each evening. I have been so impresseed with their devotions and the time they take to prepare a topic for the team. Last night, Jordan shared about “answering God’s call.”
We are now back at the YWAM base and are spending today in the capital shopping for souvenirs. We will start a new project tomorrow. We hope to replace the floor in the Fale we built two years ago and prepare it for the staff to start a preschool there.
We should be able to sending regular emails now and will try to send pictures with the next email.
We have been receiving mail…..YAY!!!!
