We went out to the bush to the TTT Unit in Benakuma (AIDS Orphans Rescue Unit) for a few days to make sure that all is going well. When we arrived about 30 children were at the unit and by the time we left there were over 100 children. Vitalis had not seen many children coming in the three months before we arrived.
One widow had walked half the day to come for medicine and pleaded we help put her 3 children in school—we were able to help her with both issues. We saw so many suffering children out there. One boy had a terrible infection on his face under the eye. I found out that the wound was put there by the guardian. They cut the boy to release the evil spirits from giving him night mares. It broke our hearts. Here the kid had a serious infection because of the dirty living conditions… all in the name of releasing something to appease an evil spirit.
These people really need the Gospel. It is our prayer that the Gospel will impact this area.
