One day recently we visited a village called Musompo. There we found a 23 year-old woman who cares for a big family. Her father is 87 years old and her mother is 83 years old. They both live with her but are unable to do anything but eat. She said she is the last born of her family and that all her, brothers and sisters are dead. Her brothers and sisters left her with the care of 13 children. Some years back, this woman was married and gave birth to three of her own children, but because of the large family the husband ran away and now she is left with 18 people plus herself to care for. She does not have time to hold a job but does some subsistence farming. She struggles a lot with shelter, food and school requirements.
