Fall is in the air!! No really, when we woke up it was 0ºC (32ºF) this morning. Summer has gone by much too fast. But so many good things have happened.
First, the Canada Preteen Team came up after completing Boot Camp in Florida. What a joy it was to have that team here. We met some great kids and got re-acquainted with the great leaders. The team was a huge blessing down at Camp Outlook. They were able to scrape and paint more of the cabins, as well as lay a cement patio in front of the kitchen. We are so thankful that they were here. They were also able to do a presentation for our first Open House for Camp Outlook. What a great way to introduce people to the ministry of Teen Missions in Canada. The team was also able to do presentations in two local Churches and at a local retirement home.
Just before this team left, we started our week-long Day Camp, Exploring God’s Creation, at Camp Outlook. Dorci, Romsia, Greg and myself were running the camp. We were blessed with some great volunteers that week. James, our pastor, agreed to be the speaker; Heather, a friend from church, led the singing; and my mom, Ellen, cooked our meals. There were also a few other special people who helped out in various areas as well. We had 23 kids altogether at camp and we went through all the days of creation and how God’s character shines through each part of creation. Crafts and sports and games were a big part of each day as well. The weather was beautiful and each day we walked to the local pool for a swim. The kids are already asking if we are having another camp next year. We are so happy to have been a part of sharing God’s love.
The week after camp ended began another exciting time. The Missionaries To Canada arrived that week. We have mentioned this group coming in our last newsletter and they are here now! We have nine young adults (ages 17-29) from Indonesia and South Korea here to travel and share God’s Word throughout Canada. We had tried to get visas for people from Mongolia, Russia and the Philippines as well, but unfortunately all of them were denied. The leaders are a staff couple from Merritt Island, FL. During training time we also had other staff and volunteers from the States to help with the training. What a blessing to have this team here in Canada. They are just finishing up their second week on the road as I write this. They are such a blessing and encouragement to the churches they visit. Did you know Indonesia is the largest Muslim country in the world? And yet, God has seen fit to bring His messengers from that country to share in our country. WOW! We still have dates open for churches and this something you don’t want to miss. Check out the Missionaries To Canada at HYPERLINK “http://www.teenmissions.ca/”www.teenmissions.ca and then send us an email or call us if you want to book them. Trust me, you don’t want to miss them.
While the team was here training the kids started back in school. It’s very different for me to only have Ethan at home this year. Kenya is in grade 1, Khaya grade 3, and Ellie grade 5. They just grow up way too fast! Ethan is still getting speech therapy, but his speech is getting so much clearer already. Kenya was recently diagnosed with a feeding disorder. She has had it since birth, but it is something that is often missed by doctors. For those of you who know Kenya, you know that she doesn’t eat very much. She is now going to be getting therapy to get her more accustomed to different kinds of foods. It is so nice to know that there is treatment for her and hopefully she will start to eat more. Please be in prayer for her and us as we learn and implement what is involved in this treatment.Greg has finally got his specialist appointment in Saskatoon. Thank you to everyone who was praying for this. He sees the doctor on October 7. Please pray that this will be a doctor who is willing to look into what is happening.
On October 8, we will be leaving to go to Colorado Springs for a week’s holiday. The kids are so excited as we are going to the Focus on the Family Center and eat at Whit’s End!
With Christ’s Love,
Greg and Amy Reddekopp
