My dear friends and family!

Hello from the Lord’s Boot Camp in Merritt Island, Florida. It seems so much time has already past since my last letter to you. I am so excited to share what I have been doing since May. It truly has been a wonderful adventure! The Lord has directed every step.

BOOT CAMP!!

When I arrived, I immediately began working in the Finance Department. My days were filled with bookkeeping responsibilities regarding the team member’s finances. I was also blessed with the opportunity to work at the reception desk and speak to many guests and wonderful parents.

When it came time for the Peanut Boot Camp (that’s 7-9 year olds) I had so much fun leading the International Choir Team.  The team consisted of all girls of this age group. During the first couple of days the girls learned how to share about Jesus through song and puppets. Each morning our day would begin with a challenging obstacle course. Our obstacle course included running, climbing four-foot walls, a rope ladder course and many more challenges all with the purpose of building team work. It was so rewarding to see how much these girls enjoyed the challenge and how all who were once strangers to each other formed a friendship while learning to depend on each other. This is a task I am still learning as I step out to fulfill the call in my life to serve the Lord as a missionary. Each evening the Peanuts had their own little rally, singing worship songs and praising God, followed by a special speaker each night that spoke to them. What a joy it was to see them gathering around the speaker on the stage listening with such eagerness and enthusiasm.

I was even given the honor of sharing the message of salvation to a young girl for my first time and praying with her as she accepted Jesus Christ as her Lord and Savior.

During the last four days of Boot Camp I was able to take the International Choir team out into the mission field of Merritt Island, Florida and apply what was taught. We visited Nursing Homes and Adult Day Care Centers. The girls were given chances to sing the songs they learned and give the message of the gospel through puppet shows, skits and favorite Bible verses. One of the most rewarding experiences for me during this time was seeing the joy on the faces of the elderly as the girls had the courage to love on each one individually and make new friends with them.  Leading the Peanut team this year was a lot of work, but none of it without its rewards. It was my first time to ever have this responsibility and I learned so much about trusting and leaning on the Lord for my every day needs as HE taught me how to interact with each young lady knowing we were leaving a life long imprint on their heart’s.

None of this could have been possible without all of your support and prayers. Thank you so much for your devotion and commitment to the work of the Lord. Please continue praying for the work that is being accomplished here at Teen Missions International. I would also like to ask that you would remember me in your prayers as I depend on the Lord to continue to meet my financial needs and strengthen me physically and spiritually to fulfill HIS call on my life.

In Christ,

Amanda Evans
