Dear Friends and Family,
We were excited to be able to send a twenty foot shipping container loaded with 22,000 pounds of warm clothing to Malawi this fall. Preparations are already underway to send another one soon to Zambia. We also enjoyed being able to see Steve’s parents, Doug & Barb during September, October and part of November. Many of our Overseas Boot Camps have been running over the winter months, and we are blessed to be a part of seeing hundreds of national youth being impacted for eternity and trained to boldly share their faith. In Australia, our coordinator, Mike Reilly, has seen many answered prayers as they’ve experienced the heavy rains and flooding there. Fortunately, our base is in hills so it’s just muddy, but not flooded. The bigger problems were with road closures between our base and Brisbane Airport.
In October, Steve was sent with three other TMI staff members (including his dad, Doug) to Albuquerque, NM to visit a ministry called FAITH COMES BY HEARING (FCBH). Teen Missions is excited to begin a partnership with this ministry. FCBH provides dramatic recordings of the entire Bible on small, sturdy audio players called Proclaimers. Each Proclaimer is powered by hand crank, solar power, or battery and can be used in the listening groups’ local language. It is a perfect fit with our AIDS Orphans (AOSC) Rescue Units and Motorcycle Sunday School Mission (MSSM) Circuit Riders as they serve in remote areas to many people who are illiterate. There is also a program that will allow our summer teams to share Proclaimers in their host countries around the world each summer.
Gay has been very busy this fall. She and her siblings helped move her mother, Joy, from Shreveport, LA, to live with us in Florida. Lots of sales and boxes later, we are getting settled in. Gay is also homeschooling Timothy and Faith and continues to proof TMI publications, manage volunteer housing on Heavenly Street, and cook for the BMW students and visiting conference center retreats on the weekends. She will soon add to this list preparing for the upcoming Peanut program that she coordinates. Steve is teaching Personal Evangelism at the Bible School and is working to update and improve the ministry websites. His current project is the MSSM website (motorcyclesmissions.org).
We are thankful for two healthy and vibrant children. They are growing like weeds. Timothy turned 9 in November and Faith turned 6 at the beginning of January. Faith just lost her front two bottom teeth, but didn’t get to enjoy having a toothless grin, because her permanent teeth were already grown in before the baby ones fell out. Timothy is also at the stage of losing more teeth, but his are the back ones of course.
Currently, the Petersens are scheduled to lead the 2011 teen team to Indiana. It is an evangelistic team that will plan to join with youth from TTT ministries to do open-air evangelism at the state fairs in the Tri-State area. Our national staff in Russia are ready to plan and run the Boot Camp there this year without us. Although we will greatly miss going to Russia this summer, we know they will do wonderfully, and we are so proud of their growth and leadership.
We can’t thank you enough for all of your prayers and support throughout the years. You are standing on the front lines of ministry with us and you are very much appreciated. May the Lord bless you mightily in 2011.
Together in His Harvest,
Steve, Gay, Timothy & Faith Petersen Is 6:8 / Heb. 11:1 / Phil 2:22&20 / Gal. 2:20
