The Bethlehem Team Is Doing Great!-11005

Bethlehem Missions Trips - 2011On Friday, we were given a tour of Bethlehem Bible College (BBC). During the tour, we were given some information on the currant political and economic situation here. The unemployment rate in Bethlehem alone is 40%. There are SO many people wanting to work, but because of the restrictions placed on Palestinians, it is very difficult to find work. The college has many outreaches geared towards the community in an effort to ease some of the suffering. One of those outreaches was the Children’s Camp held here last week. Our team enjoyed a fun-filled time of fellowship with the kids on Friday, doing a presentation and also listening to them sing for us as well. It was special to be able to worship the Lord in both Arabic and English. We literally sang “Lord I Lift Your Name On High” at the same time in both languages—it was very moving.  There is a British couple working here at BBC, and on Saturday they gave the team a history lesson of the Holy land. It was absolutely fascinating! This place is steeped in history. The team is very curious and it was nice to get a non-media perspective on the tensions, both past and present. Pray, pray, pray for peaceful solutions to the Israeli/Palestinian disputes. We know that peace will only come through Jesus Christ—pray for the Gospel message to fall on willing ears and hearts. On Sunday we went to a Palestinian Evangelical church. They gave out head phones to each of us for translation purposes, so that we could hear the service in English. We also did two presentations for the children’s ministry. The team met and made some friends of the local people who attended the service. Hopefully we will all worship our God together at least one more time during our stay. Next Sunday, we are hoping to attend a service in Jerusalem. Work is going well on the project. They have poured 1/5 of the parking lot—there is still plenty of concrete to be mixed and poured though! Your sons and daughters will be coming home with some BIG muscles. We are ever-grateful for the privilege of taking care of your children this summer. We have grown to love each of them so much!  We covet your prayers for continued team unity, health and safety.  Pray that we would make a lasting impact for eternity here.

Team 11005 looks great! My prayers are with you daily. What a powerful God we have! He transforms lives because He chooses to use the empty vessel (surrendered and humbled) and fill it with His strength through His Spirit.
Wow, I can’t wait to hear all the stories from my son Henri. I know the team will make lasting friendships that transcend cultural differences. – Scott Condes
