We arrived only four days ago and the kids have gone far above all our expectations on the work project. I thought they would be burned out by the next day but the work pace continued and continued and continued. Let it be known that all boasting goes to God who has responded graciously to our relentless prayers. He alone is the orchestrator of all that is good about this Scotland Preteen team. We have had some kids struggle with a bit of health: coughs, soreness and some recovery from Boot camp ailments (blisters and mosquito bites) but all in all the team seems to be well. The temperature is 60F, the sun is bright and the sky is blue. There are no bugs (mosquitoes) and the food is great (aka. the leaders [not me] cook great food). The town we’re staying in is amazing. Our sleeping quarters overlook the North Sea, a town of stone buildings and busy roads. Our headquarters is conveniently centered between so many important locations which are a walking distance away (stores, churches etc). Today (07/14/11) Josh and Elena took their turn as kitchen helpers, making peanut butter oatmeal squares and providing assistance in meal preparations. At the same time Coral, Liam, Elisha, May, Javaughn, Ellie, Calvin and Hannah worked through the hours pulling up layers tall grass (vigorous work). Amidst all that has been mentioned we are, daily, provided ample opportunity to share the Word of Christ in an open-air setting. We have been walking to a local beach front park for a time of evangelism and the kids have done a tremendous job. Words cannot describe the awe and wonder I have over all that is happening over here in Scotland. The kids are wonderful, the Scott’s are a delight and the Lord above it all is moving gloriously in our lives and the lives of those we see. To God be the glory and I ask with all my heart for your prayers. They have affected the outcome of this trip more than you and I may ever know.
