11016-nepal-funWow…only one week left here in Nepal. We have been very busy here at Mendie’s Haven mixing concrete and digging footers. We are building a partial wall in front of the boy’s bathrooms and constructing a roof over the back of the kitchen so that the children can wash their clothes and dishes when it is raining and also making a concrete patio for outside cooking when propane is not available. The team is enjoying playing with the children when they get home from school. They love to hold hands and ask questions. Josiah is a big hit with all the kids…they like him to lift them up over his head since he is so tall. Β πŸ™‚ Β We shared a meal together on Sunday night of water buffalo, rice, chips, dal (a sauce made from lentils), and brownies for dessert. It was so much fun to eat together and watch the children fill their tummies full! Β (They only get meat once a week here).

During our team devotions, we have heard testimonies from Esther, Kristen and Priscilla. Moly shared how God uses numbers to show his divine inspiration in creation (something her father has taught her).
We all enjoyed shopping in the Thamel market Saturday after church. The team learned the art of bartering and it became a competition to see who could get the best price. We bought North Face jackets, pashmina scarves, knives and handmade souvenirs.
The team has not received any mail since our host missionary and location have changed so last night, I shared some of the comments the parents have left on our team updates. Β They sure enjoyed hearing your comments!! (Parents-we are trying to contact the other host missionary about the mail).
We are starting to battle some minor stomach issues, but other than that, everyone is doing well and working hard.

  1. Hi Molly,
Just wanted you to be part of our week even across the miles. This week we are having a ball at VBS! Since we are seeing everyone at church every day, it is good to hear the reminders that lots are praying for you and your team. I still tear up whenever you come up in conversation, but they are truly tears of joy:) Bethany got her wisdom teeth out yesterday and is doing well; she doesn’t seem to mind being a chipmunk for awhile:) We are planning a special birthday party for Annagrace next Friday. I really miss your creativeness as we plan. We are even more excited as we begin to plan to meet at the Nashville Airport in less than 2 weeks! Until then, God will lead each of us with the plan He has for those days. We are so grateful that God gave this opportunity and how He is working through you and the transformation that He can accomplish in you as you are obedient and choose the renewing of your mind to become closer to Him and more like Him:) Praise Him! Love, Mom and family

  2. Hallie Gay Bagley

    HI Taylor!

Love you so much and hoping you are feeling really full of God’s love and grace and changed by how much you and your team are giving out for God. Every night I pray till I go to sleep for all of you. I know the children you are meeting must be noticing all of you and your hearts for God. WE are so very proud of you and all of the team. It is very hot here and I have been taking Kaja really early in the mornings on long walks in the Arboretum. I pray there for you and your team and thank HIm for all that He is doing through you. Beau is in the Yukon and learning so much. PRay he doesn’t get mauled by a grizzly. We all miss you so very much. We sent you lots of mail but I don’t know if you have gotten it since you moved. I am so full of love for you and your friends and praying for you all….

love The Bagleys–Hallie GAy, Walker Beau and Kaja plus Aunt E and Uncle B and Granndma Lois whom I spent tonight with….

  3. Hey Nepal. I am so proud of the Lord’s kids and what he has laid on your heart to do. Thanks for beigng so flexible and willing to serve in any and all circumstances. You will surprise all of us, your parents, when you return with your maturity and the level of commitment that has been engraved on your hearts as you serve this summer. May He continue to bless you and the work of your hands, and multiply the ministry of your hearts to the hearts of the needy. Esther, we love you and think of you and pray for you constantly. Can’t wait to see the person who you have become in Him through this experience and your faithfulness. You are changed for a lifetime, I know it! God bless you and the whole team… Hope you can bring us home some pictures as well. πŸ™‚

  4. Parker Superstar Stewart

Dear Nepal Team – I don’t know what to say to you all because I am not very thinky – but I hope you are all doing well and trusting more and more in God every day. Dear Sawyer – I love you so so much – I am leaving for camp in three days – it will kind of be like going to Nepal – only no rain, no orphans, no work, and we get candy for snacks, showers, tank tops and lots of free time…..same same πŸ™‚ Dear Sydney – My mom really liked you – she said you remind her of me – you must be very fun and absolutely beautiful:) hahahaha – Hope you all have a fun trip – I love you Sawyer – Love, Parker (your favorite sissy)

  5. Hi Sawyer!
I hope this finds you feeling great about your service to God this summer. You and your team mates are making a difference for eternity. The people you touch will be changed by their interaction with you and you will be changed forever by your interaction with them. God is good.
I wake up every morning and pray for you. I am SOOOOoooooo proud of you and I can’t wait to hear all about your trip when you get home (although I may have a hard time convincing your mom and sisters to share you with me – ha. They are missing you).
Ashley is on her Wilderness Orientation for college and Katie says hi. She hopes you are having a good time. πŸ™‚ We love you Sawyer!!!
The S’Moores – Nancy, Keith, Katie & Ashley

  6. It’s so wonderful to hear about what God is doing through the Nepal team this summer! Helen and Priscilla, I am praying for you, I love you girls, and I know God is watching over you so we have no worries. Romans 8:28!

  7. Hello Natalie, It was great to hear about you and your team. I and everyone else are happy that you are safe. Newfoundland was amazing and Cape Spear was the most beautiful thing that I have ever seen. We were sad that you were not there with us but you are probabaly having an even better time where you are. Dog sitting has been difficult without you. At the moment I am dog sitting all four of Wes and Rose’s dogs and they are very cute but do not seem to like Chico very much. He does not seem to mind. Soon I will be taking care of two very small dogs. After that I head off for camp.Nothing else has really been happening over here so there is not anything else to tell you.
It was great to here about you. From, Daniella (P.S. I got you some really cool gifts from Newfoundland). (P.P.S. Did you know that in Trinity Newfounland the population is only 192)?

  8. Leaders of the Nepal team,
You have been on my heart more than usual today and our family wants to thank you so much for serving. The updates are so special and mean so much to us. Thank you for being faithful with those:) God has given you such a special privilege as well as an incredible responsibility to minister to those in Nepal as well as leading, mentoring, and ministering to the precious children entrusted to you this summer. Thank you for your obedience and sacrifice. We know that you are storing up treasures in Heaven, but we asked God to bless you greatly for your goodness to Molly and our family. You remain in our prayers for wisdom, enabling, protection, provision, and other needs that we may not be aware of. We have come to love you as we pray for you and hope that we will have an opportunity to meet one day. -Molly’s mom

  9. Sawyer!!!!:

We think and pray for you all the time. We hope you are having an amazing, God-filled, life-changing time. We can’t wait to hear all about it when you get home. May God bless you and your entire team! Stay safe and healthy!

    Love you!!!
Ann and Taylor (and Kevin and Matthew)

  10. Hi Priscilla!

We were so glad to receive your team update. It is so great that you have the opportunity to minister to the children. We hope that your construction projects are going well. We are keeping you in our prayers and can’t wait to see you!
p.s. Gussie sends his love as well. πŸ™‚
    Love, Mom and Sarah

  11. Nepal team,
Those projects that you are working on will be such a blessing to those at the children’s home. I long to see pictures of those precious children and you interacting with them, so send some if you can:)
Molly, so sorry to hear about the mail as some heartfelt and some funny things await you, but God’s timing will be perfect in receiving those! Dad will be excited that you are sharing how God uses numbers. Knowing you, I bet you were able to get a good deal at the Market! One afternoon this week, Jeremiah and I felt led to pray for you at a particular moment. Afterward, Jeremiah bragged that he missed you the most and couldn’t wait for you to come home. At that moment I realized that even though I miss you SO much, I don’t want you to come home yet! That might not be what you were expecting to hear from you mom, but the excitement and peace that I have about how God is working in your life and using you to show God’s love to others there overshadows the longing to be with you. God is helping us all be content until August 10. But lookout then; be ready for a really special homecoming:) πŸ™‚ πŸ™‚ Knowing your curious nature, I must let you know that you will be surprised by some changes at home! (By the way, both of your 4-H projects were Grand Champions at the fair!) I am so grateful that God let me be your mom and I love you so much!! You and your team and leaders remain in our prayers. Keep your eyes on the Lord and rely on Him moment by moment.
Galatians 2:20 Love, Mom and family

  12. Susan Smouse (Hannah's Mom)

Just a short note to say we miss you and can’t wait to hear how you are doing! We have not received any mail from you either. I guess the mail is broken on both sides of the ocean. It is okay because the conversations and times we have spent together fill the void on not having you here. It is great that our love stretches across the miles so we don’t have to be too lonesome. We pray for your team daily and hope you are doing well. It is great to hear of the work you are doing at the Haven. Blessings to you always, Daddy and Mommy looking over my shoulder

  13. Hello John and MaryAnn, What an amazing summer this has been for you both. We have been praying for you daily! (or more often!) Many at church are praying for you too. This is VBS week…Elijah on Mt. Carmel was one account that we told to the kids. The alter was in a little swimming pool so we could drench the wood with buckets of water. Then the dry ice made a great smoke cloud when “fire” hit his alter. In it we mentioned that Elijah felt all alone, but that really there were others who worshiped God too. I thought of you both, and how alone you might feel without the mail connection to everyone back home, but remember that you are not alone. Many people are praying for you and supporting you daily. May God give you eyes to see people as He does. Please take a ton of pictures. It is very exciting to think that you are working at the same place as I did. Make the most of every minute, it goes by very quickly. Love on the kids there. Pray with them and for them. My heart is full of love for you both. The time is passing very slowly until I get to see you again, and then again it is passing quicly!! We miss you and can’t wait to see you both!! Love, Mom, Dad, and Matthew

  14. We are praying for you guys, and the children you are working with! Can’t wait to hear all about it, y’all have such great hearts. Tyler, everyone misses you and can’t wait to see you again. We love you and take care!

  15. Hallie Gay Bagley (Taylor's mom)

Taylor — Wow we so appreciate hearing about you guys. I have been looking at the website daily to hear about you. So glad to hear about how God has met you and Yes, HE knew before you guys ever left what the weather would be like and he had you right where He wanted you to be. WE know you must be encountering Him in so many ways that aren’t as easily seen here in the US. I know you will remember this for the rest of your lives, all of you. Everyone is asking about your trip. It is so wonderful to hear about your great team, what fantastic kids you all are, and about your testimonies. You guys must be enjoying working on the porch and the footers and helping those kids. It sounds neat about Josiah being such a hit with them. You guys are indeed our HOPE for the future and we love you dearly. ps Taylor I went to Critchfields yesterday and I heard a sweet voice say, “hello, Mrs. Bagley” and it was your dear friend Brandon and he said he misses you and asked all about you. He is working there a lot. May the Lord Bless you and Keep you and make His face to shine upon you…and May you all know HIm deep and wide…
LOVe and Blessings to you all, Hallie Gay Bagley (Taylor’s MOM)

  16. So good to hear all that you are accomplishing. It sounds like the children in the home there are a lot of fun. A special hello and hugs to Natalie from her family and the church members. We miss her alot. We are home from our vacation in Newfoundland and had a great time but missed Natalie’s mischievous sense of humour. So glad to hear that you are learning all about construction and pouring concrete. We can put that to good use here at home. We continue to pray that you will all have good health and will stay safe. Thank you for all that you are doing and being over there. God bless. Suzanne Harvey (Mom)

  17. Sawyer – I miss you so much – I can’t wait for you to come home and tell me all about your trip! I am glad that your team found another project to work on – I hope that you are having the best time ever! Mom said she had the best time ever when she went to visit you at bootcamp. She said that she loved your team and your leaders – she gets all teary and smiley every time she reads a new update from your team! I think she loves you second best……. πŸ™ poor Parker…I love you sissy πŸ™‚ Logan

  18. Great to hear about your progress. What a bunch of AMAZING KIDS. Our future leaders are being properly groomed. It is truly a GOD THING. When you came to us with this idea and being a Dad, I said how are you going to raise the money and you said, God will provide, its been a reaffirmation of our faith. Wow what wonderful kids. Leading by Doing. Wonderful, you are ALL our HOPE for the future.
    Our Lords Blessing to all!!!
PS Kristin, you can help with logging and brush hauling when you get home. Such fun. I may even pay you a few nickels or bucks.

  19. Elisabeth Loving

Thanks for the wonderful update! Josiah, glad to hear you are eating well (thirds and fourths!?!) and that you are enjoying playing with the children. Dad, Jesse and Schatze are working up at the ranch. Peter and I are holding down the fort at home. We miss you lots and are praying for the team. The Lord bless you and keep you. Love you, Si. Elisabeth Loving (Josiah’s mom)

  20. Praying for you all, and glad that you are accomplishing something concrete. (no pun intended) I agree that God knew all that would occur and his plans are being fulfilled through all of you. I’m so proud of Kristin and Esther, and love you both. I’m glad you are obedient to our Father and what he intends for your lives and in this summer. Hug each other for me and can’t wait to hear from you directly and talk to you again. Love you lots…. <3

  21. Great to hear the news from the team. Praying constantly for everyone involved…give Maddie and Zoe a hug from Uncle Mark. πŸ™‚

  22. I hope that everyone on the team can finish strong and feel healthy. What a blessing for the children that you are there to make their home a better place for physical comfort as well as lifting them up spiritually. Make every last moment shine with the light of Christ.

    Karen (Sarah’s mom)

  23. What a wonderful update! Thank you for taking the time to keep us informed. It is good to know everyone is well and wonderful to hear how the Lord is working. I will continue to pray for the entire team and the people you are reaching. – Since you are not receiving mail could you please tell Helen her family is at her Grandma’s house in South Dakota and we will be here while she is traveling back to Florida so if she gets a chance to make a phone call we will be at 605-721-0300, and not at home. Thank you. Kristi Collins. (Helen’s mom)

  24. jennifer stewart

Dear Team Nepal! No mail – what a bummer !! I am sure that once parents read this latest update there will be plenty of comments left for you to let you all know how proud we all are of you! I am sorry that things changed for your team once you got to Ulibari – I got an app on my smartphone so that i could see what the time and weather was while you are all in Nepal -I was very worried about all the rains… and we had a big chunk of people here in Minnesota praying that the weather would change or you would be able to find a new project to work on. Turns out God must like us Minnesotans – cuz it sounds like He answered that one! πŸ™‚ I am sure that Shannon and Vikki already reminded you of this – but God knew before you ever boarded a plane for bootcamp, what the weather would be like when you got to your original worksite – and I have no doubts that you are exactly where you are supposed to be πŸ™‚ God is good – and He is faithful – and I would bet you could all tell me stories about how He has met you there – in the middle of Nepal – and reminded you of just how much he loves you πŸ™‚ So please know that you are all being prayed for – that God would protect you, and shower you with his grace and love – and that you be able to see Him and feel Him in a way you never would have here in the states, and that you would remember to carry that with you for the rest of your lives πŸ™‚ And – as a side note to Sawyer – I love you soooooo much – I am so proud of you and I miss you and I decided NOT to turn your bedroom into a workout room after all and you can still have it when you get home πŸ˜‰ hahahaha – AND YOU GOT A 4 ON YOUR AP TEST!!!!!! Good Girl πŸ™‚ I LOVE YOU! I miss you!! You are my favorite kid (don’t tell your sisters), and I love you πŸ™‚
