Temperatures this week have been close to 100 degrees so we are drinking plenty at the fairs. On Saturday, the team enjoyed a visit to the Log Inn, Indiana’s oldest restaurant where Abraham Lincoln once dined while campaigning for Henry Clay in 1844. It was built as a stage coach stop in 1825. We sat in an ornate dining room and ate family style with our choice of chicken, beef or ham. Yeah, it was awesome! Later that evening we enjoyed another TTT saturday night rally together with local teens. With a ‘Christmas in July’  theme we had a ‘snowball’ fight in the front lawn using nylons stuffed with flour. I guess you can imagine what we looked like afterwards!  On Sunday, we travelled into Evansville and shared another presentation in a local church. The historic building had large vingtage pipe organ that has been in continuous use since 1925. (The Organist told us that it was donated by Andrew Carnegie). After the service, a young boy got to talking with Stephen and told him he was a ‘fake’ Christian. After talking for some time, Stephen was able to pray with the boy to receive Jesus Christ as his Lord and Savior and also gave him a Bible!  Afterwards the team enjoyed a visit to a local memorial along the Ohio River overlooking Kentucky. There were small stone pillars there with the seals of all 50 states!

This week, our team is sharing Christ in two county fairs… one is in Edwards County Illinois and one is in Pike County, Indiana. Our host, George Dooms informed us that just two miles from the Pike county fair is the demographic center of the United States. The fairs we are attending this week are smaller, so there have been fewer people stopping to talk but the team is remaining strong and resolute about making the most of every opportunity. So far, we have seen over 1000 people take survey’s (The 10 question survey ends with questions about whether or not they know for sure that they are going to heaven…. and leads to an opportunity to share the Good News.) We have also recorded over 180 decisions for Christ. To God be ALL the glory!

Here are a few testimonies from the team members:

Wynne – When I first heard that we were going to be sharing the gospel with total strangers I was really nervous. I don’t like to talk to people unless I know them. But as we began to do the Fair Share I realized it really wasn’t as hard or embarrassing as I thought it would be. I also realized that this is what God commanded us to do as Christians. He told us to go into all the world and preach the gospel and also to always be ready to give an answer for the hope that is in us. This past week, I’ve really been learning to trust God. There have been many imes in conversations with the people at the fairs that God has given me the words to speak to them.

Hi! It’s Clare from the Indiana team! I’ve been reading in the book of Matthew for devotions and it’s pretty amazing. I’ve kind of been worrying about all the stuff going on at home that I’m missing and that I’m going to have to catch up on when I go back. Well, I was actually losing sleep over this, but yesterday, in devotions, God gave me this verse, Matthew 6:27 “And who of you by being worried can add a single hour to his life?” Well, it was like a God slap in the face, I saw how little I was trusting his plan, he said to me “I’ve got you here for a reason, I’m big enough to handle the things going on at home, why don’t you have faith?” Well, I cried, and I got my heart  right with God, and wow, I feel so much better now! I feel peace and joy agian. I want to challenge you, whatever you’re holding on to and not trusting God with… Give it up, it’s so totally worth it!  God Bless!

Weston – God has been helping me in many ways since my time at Boot Camp and here on the field. He has been showing me areas in my life that I need to give to Him as well as drawing me closer to Him. He has given me much more patience and a realization of how much He has blessed me and my family. Things that I simply took for granted I am beginning to appreciate much more. God has helped me to be more bold and has given me confidence as I share the Gospel and witness to people. It has been an amazing experience so far and I can’t wait to see what else He has planned for me.
