Dear Friends and Family:
God is good! All the time! And all the time, God is Good! It is with great joy that we write to all of you and report that our God is truly at work within us and around the world, and how your partnership with us in ministry is truly powerful and effective.
A Summer in Switzerland: We are so grateful to report that God truly did amazing things in and through us over the course of this summer. Our project was to work at the Youth With A Mission (YWAM) base in Einigen, Switzerland performing various maintenance and landscaping related projects for them. This YWAM base serves as both a retreat center for missionaries from all over the world and as an outreach to the local community. Over the course of the summer we were able to build two stone retaining walls, remove and rebuild all of the trails in the gardens, build a 300-ft long flowerbed, and clean and weed all of the existing flowerbeds. By performing this work our team of 17 allowed the 5 missionaries at the base to concentrate on the mission that God had called them to!
As we have come to expect on these work-oriented mission projects, God not only accomplished a mighty work through the project itself but He also did some incredible things in the spiritual lives of the team members. As evidence of this, over the course of the summer, we had the opportunity to pray with two team members to receive Christ, saw 4 of them commit to becoming full-time missionaries, and have already seen 6 of the 12 members sign up for another summer with Teen Missions! Truly all glory, power, and praise goes to God!
Ryan’s corner – “God Never Gives up”
He was a tough nut to crack. He’s one of those special kids that God puts in your life that you just can’t ignore. On a spiritual level we had our hands full, out of sheer exasperation and with true love in our hearts, we prayed over and over again that the Holy Spirit would get through to him and convict him of his sins. To be perfectly honest with you, as the summer drew to an end I had almost given up on him. Fortunately, God had not. With 4-hrs left in the summer I was able to pray with him to repent of his sins and truly accept the love of Christ into his heart. As you can imagine, he has continued to be on my heart and in my thoughts a lot since I’ve returned home this summer and I’ve been in prayer for him. Just the other day I received a facebook message from him where he informed me that when he arrived home he shared with this friends about what God did in his life this summer. Through his testimony he had the opportunity lead two people to Christ himself! WOW!!! We do serve a mighty-life-altering God, don’t we?!
On the Home Front – It is hard to believe that Micah is entering 1st grade, is beginning to read books to mom and dad (quite the role reversal), and is playing competitive soccer! Our little boy is truly growing up. He is also very good at “helping” mom and dad keep little Abby in line. Abby has developed quite the personality, and as Ryan likes to say is 2 1⁄2 going on 16. She loves to read books, count to 10, say her ABC’s, help Daddy make his morning coffee, and hang out with her big brother Micah. God’s Provision, Our Prayers, and Looking to the Future: We have turned our “ministry-focus” towards the 2012 promotional season. We will be starting with a trip to Washington DC, to visit several dear friends and relatives that live in the area with plans to speak at churches and Christian schools along the way. Ryan will then take off on “The Great Western Road Trip” in October where he plans to travel through 10 states over 6 weeks challenging youth to go into all the world and make more disciples! Please pray for us as Ryan travels and is away from Erin and the kids so much. But please don’t pray for our safety, instead pray that no matter what we do we will be bold in our faith and never pass up the opportunity to share the truly radical love that God has given to us with the world around us.
May God Bless each of you! Until Next Time,
Ryan, Erin, Micah, and Abigail
