After training at the Lord’s Boot Camp, our Indiana Drama team travelled by bus for two days through Georgia, Tennessee and Kentucky and arrived in Evansville, Indiana at about 3 PM. Our first ministry assignment was already waiting for us, so we continued on, still fully loaded, to the Warrick County Fair in Boonville, Indiana. Here we stood at our booth with real people passing by… many who need a life-changing encounter with the Lord Jesus. At first our team seemed timid as the reality and personal nature of our task began to settle in. We encouraged our teens to take those important first steps of faith and engage the stream of people passing in front of us. We quickly noticed on that first day that as we began to share the Gospel, the fear left our hearts and bold compassion from the Holy Spirit took it’s place. Together with teens from TTT ministries (our host), we shared the Gospel at 10 county fairs in Illinois, Kentucky and Indiana. We conducted 1,580 surveys (there was often more than one person listening) and we recorded 268 decisions for Christ. Thousands more seeds were planted through other conversations and the tracts we shared with those unwilling to stop to talk. There were hundreds of other deep conversations where people were visibly concerned about eternity yet were unwilling to make a decision for Christ. Please pray that they will be reminded of the truth of God’s Word that they heard. Our teens grew in their maturity, courage and faith this summer and we give God all the glory!
After the summer, we visited friends and family in Kentucky, Tennessee, South Carolina, Mississippi, Colorado and Louisiana. We are grateful for such faithful supporters.
The Teen Missions staff are now settling back into their duties at the main headquarters in Merritt Island. Steve is teaching Synthesis IV this term (Major Prophets) and continues his involvement with the TMI website and online promotion campaigns. TMI is also planning to send Steve on a short trip to our base in Honduras after Christmas. Gay is teaching Grammar and helps with data entry, proofing and guest housing. More than 140 teens are already registered for the 2012 summer teams!
Timothy and Faith are busy with their homeschool work and are busy with friends and activities. Timothy is playing fall baseball and Faith is hoping to join a dance class at church.
Next Summer…We have just been assigned to lead the 2012 Zambia Water Filter team! This is our first team to Africa as a family and the first time for Gay and the kids to see Grandma and Grandpa Petersen serving at their base in Ndola. Needless to say, we are VERY EXCITED about these plans and look forward to discipling more young people next summer, the Lord willing.
Thank you for all of your prayers and support this past summer. We know that many individuals, families and churches are making great sacrifices to enable us to serve the Lord with Teen Missions and we pray that the Lord blesses you abundantly in return!
