Donated Clothing Arrives in Zambia

Unloading the container

The following report is from Doug Petersen, Teen Missions in Zambia Coordinator, regarding the last container we sent to Zambia:

“Hendrix (Facilitator at Lufwanyama Unit) was in today and was sharing about the Unit. He said he and Boaz gave out clothing to 464 people at Lufwanyama. It was incredible to see the response from the people. He brought letters of thanks to me from the pastor of the Baptist church there and also the school headmaster. They were overcome with appreciation for the help that came to their people.

Hendrix shares, ‘We wish to thank you very much for your support of the orphans here at Lufwanyama. I wish to share with you what the Lord did through you. Over 400 orphans, 50 adults, and 20 widows benefited from your contribution of clothes. It was such an encouragement to them because it told them you remembered them. Our mission here is to follow our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ in working with poor orphans, bear witness to the good news of the gospel, and bring hope to the hopeless. As we minister alongside the oppressed and needy we desire to be a demonstration of God’s unconditional love for these people.’ The testimonies are beginning to come in and it is significant.

Newly Clothed Orphan

Clothes for the Orphans

At Lupia there are now 50-60 children coming to Sunday School where there were 10-20 before. The same is true at Dola Hills. Mike shared from Luswishi that a young boy just could not contain himself. He was jumping around and shouting. He said the boy had only one shirt and one pair of trousers. They were in tatters and he wore them wherever he went. On the distribution day, he received three T-shirts, two trousers, one jersey and one pair of shoes. Never in his life did he have such treasures. We saw him jumping maybe two feet off the ground with the biggest possible smile on his face. Could you ever imagine that your unwanted clothes could be such an encouragement to an orphan?”
