Come to the exotic Caribbean coastline of Panama. After Boot Camp training, your team will head to the Orlando International Airport for a flight to Panama City Airport. You will travel by bus three hours along the Pan American Highway, to where the jungle meets the Caribbean Sea. From here you will transfer to boats for a four-hour ride along the Panamanian coast and the San Blas Islands to the island of Ogodsukun. You will be working with the Kuna Youth Missions.
The Kuna are an indigenous people of Panama and Colombia who live on the beaches of the Caribbean Sea, with plots of land in the jungle where they grow plantains, bananas, avocados and other fruits. The Kuna are trapped in ancient traditions of spirit worship and superstitions. Come share the hope found in Jesus Christ to a people who desperately need salvation, using music, puppets and drama.
You will help renovate an old building and put a roof on it and it will be used as a Children’s Center. Housing will be indoors and showers are available. You will have a chance to go swimming in the crystal blue waters of the Caribbean Sea. On your return to Panama City, you will visit the Panama Canal and go through the museum that shares it’s history. The museum, overlooking the Canal, allows you to see ocean-going ships pass through the locks right in front of you! Shopping for traditional Kuna dresses, drums, beaded jewelry and much more will be another highlight of your summer.
