Cameroon Mission Trip

Have you ever walked to school in harsh conditions without a pair of shoes? Did you know that there are hundreds of children in Cameroon who make that kind of journey every day?

You can make it possible for these children to have shoes for school, as well as all year round. Following training at the Lord’s BootCamp, you bus to the Orlando International Airport for a flight to Dulles International Airport in Washington, D.C. Your next flight crosses the Atlantic Ocean, Europe, the Mediterranean Sea and then over the Sahara Desert to Addis Ababa, Ethiopia, arriving the next morning in Douala, Cameroon. From Douala, your team will bus 225 miles north to the Teen Missions in Cameroon base in Nsongwa, located near Bamenda.

After taking a few days to buy supplies and sort out the shoes, you will then head out to your first AIDS Orphans Rescue Unit (AORU).You will visit at least two AORU locations to wash children’s feet and help them put on a clean pair of socks and new shoes.

You will also assist the AORU facilitators with their daily medical treatments. The medical needs are great in these areas, as the children often have severe wounds, worms in their feet and knees, skin infections and common childhood illnesses. You will enjoy teaching phonics and Sunday School lessons, as well as playing soccer and other games with the orphans at the AORU. There will be ample opportunities to proclaim the Gospel through puppets, drama and singing. You will also have the opportunity to shop for jewelry, drums, spear heads, baskets and wood carvings. Housing is in tents; bathing and laundry are done using a bucket.

Project Expense: $4890 U.S. plus $30 Registration Fee

  21. Is this team full now?

  22. This seems like an awesome trip, but I can get grossed out when dealing with first aid. I do have my standard first aid, but I’m not sure if I will be good at actually administering it to people. Is that a huge part of the mission?

  23. Kind of a random question but I was wondering…is there Boot Camp Olympics every year, or just every other year? 🙂

  25. Will I be Able to go on a teen team if my birthday is on June 29, 2000

  42. Will I need a visa for this trip? Also, does the ministry have a branch here in New York. I am interested in attending this trip but my parents are non- Christians therefore they are not supportive but I know that all things are possible through Christ. If there is, I’d like to work for your ministry in order to raise the sufficient cost.

    • Melissa, Yes, you will need a passport and a visa. We will send the visa information later in the spring. We are located in Florida and do not have a way to work for our ministry to earn money for the trip. All of our staff are “faith supported”. 46. Do we pay this amount to the organization ? Or is it the estimated amount we need to spend to get our selves to the area? Do we travel as a group or all meet in Orlando?

    • Kathleen, You are responsible for your own round-trip transportation to/from Florida for training. Everyone goes through the Boot Camp training before going on their project. The amount you have to raise is for your transportation to/from your field of service and for Boot Camp, ground transportation, food, etc.

  47. Thanks.

  49. Oops sorry! I have another question…
