Are you ready for a challenge? Grab your backpack and prepare yourself for one of the toughest hikes you willever experience! Standing at 19,341 feet, Mt. Kilimanjaro is the highest freestanding mountain in the world. Following Boot Camp, your team will bus to the Orlando International Airport to begin your journey to Kilimanjaro International Airport via Washington D.C. and Addis Ababa, Ethiopia.

A 30-minute bus ride will take you to the Teen Missions property at the base of the snowcapped mountain. Your time will be divided between continuing construction on the Teen Missions in Tanzania Bible, Missionary & Work Training Center and hiking to remote villages in the foothills of Mt. Kilimanjaro. You will attract many curious villagers as you share the Gospel using music, drama and puppets. In addition, you will show the JESUS Film in the Kiswahili language. Housing is in tents; bathing and laundry will be done using a bucket.

A visit to Moshi will give you a chance to purchase unique souvenirs of the Masai tribe, as well as traditional national clothing, drums, wood and soapstone carvings, bags and tanzanite jewelry found only in Tanzania. Experience an unforgettable safari on the Serengeti Plain where zebra, wildebeest, elephant and giraffe are abundant. On your flight back you will have a refueling stop in Rome, Italy.

Note: Members of this team should be in good physical health and free of respiratory difficulties.

    • Rose, I won’t know how many have registered for this team until next month. It is usually one of the more popular teams. We will put up to 25 team members on it.

  10. Are there any shorter trips available? (around 2-4 weeks?). If not, do you know of any other organizations that would be having a trip to this area for a shorter period of time? Thanks!

  12. Is there a way to be guaranteed that you will be a member of the team the hiking/backpacking team that serves in the surrounding areas of Mt. Kilimanjaro?

    • Bob, You will be doing both. Since it is filled on a first-come, first-serve basis, you will need to register early.

  13. I will be turning 13 in August 2013. Would they allow me to go on this backpacking teen trip if I will be turning 13 that summer? I really wanted to go on a backpacking mission trip and there are none in the preteens.
