Wales/England

Wales Mission Trip

CANCELLED 2/7/2013

You may hear Croeso I Cymru, “Welcome to Wales” as you arrive at Save the Family (STF), a ministry that gives hope to homeless and hurting people. After Boot Camp training, you bus to the Orlando International Airport for a flight to Atlanta, Georgia. From Atlanta you fly across the Atlantic Ocean and Ireland, before arriving in Manchester, England. From Manchester it is a two-hour bus ride to STF, located 12 miles across the border from Chester, England. STF has two locations, one in Plas Balin Hall near Northop Hall, Flintshire, Wales and the other in Chester.

You will be involved with projects at both locations! Whether it is building an exercise course, painting, landscaping or doing a children’s program using the music, puppets and dramas learned at Boot Camp, you will be busy. The landscape of Wales is dotted with castles everywhere and you may get the opportunity to visit a few of them.

The Conwy, Caenarvan and Ewloe Castles are located near STF. There will be an opportunity to visit Snowdonia National Park, and hike some of the majestic mountains. The warm and friendly hospitality you will be shown by the Welsh people, is a true credit to the country. You will need to sample some of England’s famous fish ‘n’ chips while out shopping for English teas, china, soccer memorabilia and other souvenirs of your summer.

  1. I signed up and received my information packet, when will we find out who is on our team? LIA, WE WILL SEND OUT THAT INFORMATION IN APRIL.

  2. how do you register for a team?? ANGELA, GO TO OUR WEBSITE AND LOOK TO THE WRITE AND CLICK ON “REGISTER” AND FOLLOW THE DIRECTIONS.

  3. Which teams are still open to girls? Where would you sleep and do laundry on this trip? RACHAEL, WALES IS STILL OPEN. THE HOUSING INFORMATION WILL COME OUT IN THE SPRING. THE TEAMS CLOSED TO GIRLS ARE: AUSTRALIA, CAMEROON, IRELAND, PHILIPPINES, MALAWI (12019).

  4. just wondering, for the payments would you need to pay each month separate amounts?

    • Jayleen, We have “goals” set (30 days, etc.) on when amounts need to be in. However, the total amount is due by the day you arrive at the latest. If you cannot meet the goals, just keep trying. We will call before the final booking of the tickets and you can switch to a cheaper team at that point if needed.

  5. Is there any room left for this trip?

  6. Hi, I was on the Trinidad team this year and I was wondering if it was possible to know what team Amanda Evans and the Deegans will be on, also how do we find our computer ID# for FTM’s?

  7. I am looking to go on the Wales trip with my girlfriend. Is it possible for both of us to get on the same team?

    • Alex, We will put you on the same team, but we discourage it. There is a “no pairing off” policy that is strictly enforced. I would suggest you go on different teams, but have the same dates. That way, you will see each other at Boot Camp and Debrief, but will have separate field experiences. You will be more inclined to get to know your other team members if you are not together on the same team. It can work, but it is very hard to adhere to the “no pairing off” policy if you are already a couple.

  8. Which trips are full and which are almost full?

    • Ericah, Australia is full and Cameroon is full to girls. Madagascar is close to being full and Philipppines is full to girls. However, that can change with switches and cancellations.

  9. Hi just wondering how much room is still left for this trip for girls? how much time do you think i have left to register? thanks

  12. Hi I was looking into going on the trip to Spain but saw that it is canceled. Is there going to be another trip replacing it? This one looks interesting too!

  13. Why is this trip a week longer than the other superboots? For debrief?

  14. I went on a trip with TMI to Save The Family in Wales in 2008. My team for the most part stayed in tents. for a few days we got to stay indoors. this was four years ago so things might be different now, but if its still kinda the same for the most part you will be in a tent.
