Following a day of orientation in Merritt Island, Florida, you will travel to Orlando International Airport to begin your flight across the Atlantic Ocean to Lilongwe, the capital of Malawi, via Washington D. C. and Addis Ababa, Ethiopia. Malawi is often referred to as “The Warm Heart of Africa”, you will know why after spending time with these friendly people.
A two-hour truck ride will take you from the airport to the Teen Missions in Malawi Bible, Missionary & Work (BMW) Training Center in Chipoka on the shores of Lake Malawi. You will spend a day at the base before driving six hours to your project site in Mangochi. Your project is to continue construction on the Chiyao BMW and base.
The Yao people are predominately Muslim and our work among the children is opening doors of opportunity for the Gospel, as you interact with the orphans at the AIDS Orphans Rescue Unit right down the road. While in Malawi, you will be traveling to some of the same places that David Livingstone visited when he explored the country. There is also a trip planned to Senga Bay where you will be able to barter for wood carvings, paintings and drums.
