Belize Mission Trip

Belize—a land of enchantment! Spend your summer telling people about Jesus Christ, as you travel to the only English-speaking country in Central America. Upon completion of Boot Camp, you will bus to the Orlando International Airport for your flight to Miami. From Miami you fly south across the Gulf of Mexico and the Yucatan Peninsula, arriving in Belize City, the capital of Belize.

From Belize City, you travel one hour north to Orange Walk Town and on to Perfect Peace Ministries at Honey Camp Lagoon. Here you will help build needed sidewalks and perhaps do some landscaping projects. Housing is in dorms and showers are available. Laundry is done using your bucket. On the weekends you will have the opportunity to share God’s love using music, puppets, drama and personal testimonies in Orange Walk Town.

You will take a boat ride upriver to the ancient Mayan ruins at Lamanai. As you walk through the jungle, you may see and hear noisy howler monkeys in the tree tops. Another day, you will enjoy colorful coral fish and sea plants in the Caribbean Sea at the second largest barrier reef in the world. Have fun bartering with the Belizeans for unique souvenirs such as wood carvings, jewelry, hammocks and other handicrafts.

  1. Sorry, I forgot two questions.
Question 4: When will the 2013 packing list be put on the site? (Would the 2012 one be okay or is there a difference?) WE ARE WORKING ON THAT NOW. IT IS CLOSE TO THE 2012 WITH SOME MINOR CHANGES.
Question 5: I play violin, but if I bring my violin it could crack in the heat. Is it worth bringing? (If so what songs should I know?) I WOULDN’T BRING IT THEN.

  2. Question 1: Am I allowed to bring an empty book in which I can keep a journal of the history of the trip?
Question 2: I have a Gladys Aylward book from the “Christian Heroes: Then & Now” Series by Janet & Geoff Benge. Gladys is a missionary to China. I was wanting to finish reading this on the plane while flying down to Florida, then donate the book to TMI for their Missionary Reading Boxes.
Question 3:I read that In Lamanai there is an opportunity to purchase cookies and peanuts from the local children who are trying to support their families. Are these items something we can buy from them, or not because of potential health problems? YES, YOU MAY BRING A JOURNAL. YES, YOU MAY BRING THAT BOOK AND DONATE IT WHEN YOU ARRIVE AT BOOT CAMP. YOU WILL NOT BE ALLOWED TO HAVE IT ON YOUR TEAM. I WOULD BE LEARY ABOUT PURCHASING THE PEANUTS AND COOKIES. YOU MIGHT WANT TO WAIT UNTIL YOU GET THERE AND HAVE YOUR LEADER(S) OK THAT IF THEY FEEL IT IS SAFE.

  3. Okay, Thanks.

  4. Sorry I know i am asking a bunch of questions, but r we going to swim, snorkel, or just look at the Caribbean sea? Kaitlyn, It will depend on the conditions on the day you are there and whether snorkling is an option. More than likely, you will be allowed to swim if it is deemed safe.

  5. Oh sorry didn’t know

  6. YAY I am going! I CAN’T WAIT TO MEET THE TEAM THIS SUMMER! I am SO excited. I hope to change lives while I am Belize. Who is maybe going to be our leader and how many people our signed up for the team? R there any girls yet?
*SO EXCITED* KAITLYN, WE DO NOT GIVE OUT THE NAMES OF THE LEADERS AS THAT CAN CHANGE. YES, THERE ARE GIRLS ON THE TEAM. WE ALSO DON’T GIVE OUT HOW MANY ARE ON A TEAM AS THAT CHANGES AND I WOULD HAVE TO DO IT FOR EVERY TEAM.

  7. I am going on one of these trips. I was going to maybe go to Bethlehem but I do not see it on the list now. This is my second choice is Belize, but I do not know if Bethlehem is still on. Let me know if it is. KAITLYN, WE CANCELLED BETHLEHEM DUE TO A LACK OF REGISTRATIONS.

  8. I’m a little confused here, so do we pay the $2590? or just the 30$ or both? ASHLYN, YOU PAY THE $30 TO REGISTER. THE REST OF THE MONEY IS DUE BY THE DAY YOU ARRIVE AT BOOT CAMP. WE ASK THAT YOU HAVE $300 IN IN 30 DAYS (BUT THAT IS A GOAL, NOT A REQUIREMENT).

  9. how long is the trip?
Is the boot camp included in the dates June 27-August5?

  10. do we have to be from the u.s i live in canada if i found a way to get to the export place can i go?

  11. How long is the pre-teen boot camp?

  12. I went to Aruba in 1982 i wont to go as a leader could you send me info as what I have to do to go to Belize

  13. what are good ways to raise money for the trip?

  14. I was wondering if this trip was going to be a work trip or an evangelistic trip.

  15. Is the Cardboard box/Plastic tote just for boot camp?

    • Thomas, Yes. You can use a plastic tote for Boot Camp, but the box would be destroyed. You will be issued a duffel bag upon arrival.
