Uganda Mission Trip | Kenya

Uganda

Project change 05/03/13

Do you want to share the love of Jesus Christ with orphans and youth living in extreme poverty? Then come spend your summer in Uganda, The Pearl of Africa! After Boot Camp training, you will bus to the Orlando International Airport for a flight to Miami. A connecting flight takes you across the Atlantic Ocean, to Paris, before continuing on across the Mediterranean Sea and the Sahara Desert to Nairobi, the capital of Kenya, then on to Entebbe, Uganda. As you continue your journey by bus to Koboko, in the northwest corner of Uganda, you will cross the mighty Nile River and likely see some of Uganda’s magnificent wildlife, such as baboons and elephants. Your project will be to continue construction on the Teen Missions in Uganda Koboko Bible, Missionary & Work Training Center. Laying block, plastering walls, mixing concrete and pouring classroom floors will be some of the projects to be worked on. Housing will be indoors and showers are available. You will have opportunity to minister to the local kids through Gospel presentations, friendship, and your Christian testimony. Wood carvings, soapstone, beadwork and drums are just some of the items you may be able to purchase as a souvenir of your summer.

Project Expense: $4790 U.S. plus $30 Registration Fee

  6. Beth, this is Sydney’s mother. A coworker has uniforms for 5 full baseball teams (of various sizes) and wonders if one of the missions could use them in another country. She says it is a very large duffle bag full. Could you let me know if Teen Missions would be interested in them? Sydney could bring them down to Florida with her. Hey I was just wondering if we will be bringing pants at all on the field…I know we’ll need it for boot camp, but do we have to wear our pants during boot camp or will we be recommended to wear our skirts ?? I THINK IT WILL PROBABLY BE SKIRTS, BUT YOU WILL NEED TO WAIT UNTIL THE INDIVIDUAL TEAM FACT SHEETS GO OUT NEXT MONTH.

  9. I was wondering, what are the girls going to be wearing in Southern Sudan? I’m guessing long skirts but I just wanted to cheek first. I have a few friends who are going to be helping me make some long skirts, but I just wanted to know forsure before cutting out the pattern how long they should be? Thx! God Bless 🙂 <3 WE ARE STILL WORKING ON THE DETAILS, BUT MAKE THE SKIRTS LOOSE AND CLOSER TO THE ANKLE (THEY WILL BE EASIER TO WORK IN). I WOULD ALSO SUGGEST WEARING SHORTS OR SLIDERS UNDER THE SKIRTS.

  10. Hi, so PRAISE THE LORD I got accepted to this Trip! 😀 😀 😀 So excited! I was just have a few questions, I have an Aunt who did Teen Mission’s a long time ago,and she had mentioned that in mid April or something I would get pictures and info about the rest of my team members? 25. Hi I am interested in one of the Africa trips , particularly the south Sudan and Cameron ones , I’d there room on these two trips ? If not , which trips have room ? Also , do we have to be taken directly to the boot camp or do you have pickups from near by airports ? Also does the group travel back to Orlando together then break up or does everyone travel home alone from the end destination ?
    Thanks , Max

    • Max, We only pick up from the Orlando International Airport (MCO) and that is the airport you must fly home from. Your team will fly together to Debrief, but you will all be on separate flights (or be picked up) after Debrief.

    • Max, Both Indonesia and South Sudan are still open.

    • Max, Both Indonesia and South Sudan are still open. Cameroon is open to boys only.

  26. Beth,
My brother and our cousin (girl) would like to go on a African team together, What are the current options besides the MSSM? Thanks.

  27. Is this the only trip to Africa that’s not

  29. if i wanted to sign up now for this trip, would i be too late? like, is there any more room?

  30. i am signed up for this trip but i sent out lots of letters & am not getting lots of money, does anyone have any suggestions on how to get money?

    • 12345, You still have plenty of time. Ask your church if you can speak a few minutes about it. Car washes, spaghetti dinners, garage sales, etc. Go to your doctor, dentist, insurance agent, etc. You will find the money comes in at first, then nothing or very little for a while and then it will come in at the end. The dates are “goals” – just get it in when you can. We will call before we do the final booking. If you need to switch to a cheaper team at that point, you can.

  31. Are we still going to work in Uganda?

  32. I can’t wait to go on this trip next summer!!!!! God is working is so many ways in my life right now! (: praise the lord (:

  33. In the Teen Missions pamphlet, I read that this trip was Southern Sudan and Uganda.
On the website it says Southern Sudan and Kenya.
Can you clarify if it is Kenya or Uganda?

  34. I am signed up for this trip.

  35. how many spots are there?

  36. I’m going Marissa! 🙂

  37. who all is going on this trip?

  38. is it a problem if I’m allergic to bug bites?

    • Marissa, It depends on your reaction to bug bites. We have a LOT of mosquitoes. Please check with your physician on what you can do to prevent the allergic reaction as you WILL be bit by mosquitoes.

  39. Hey! It is hard to raise enough money? My parents aren’t sure they want me to come because they don’t know anyone else going and because it costs so much money. Also, will we be working lots with the orphans or mainly building?

    • Marissa, We will provide prayer cards and letters for you to send out to help raise your support. Your main project is the building, but there will always be kids around watching you and you will be able to interact with them during your free time.

  40. Is this price everything included?

    • Brandy, Everything except your round trip transportation to/from FL, passport and/or visa costs, spending money, departure tax (if applicable), immunizations, boots, etc. (it is on our web site).

  41. If I’m unable to raise enough money this year, will you hold my money for next year or refund it back to me?

    • Taleya, We will call you before final ticketing and if you need to, you can switch to a cheaper team. We cannot hold money (unless for a medical reason and with a dr. note) or refund money due to the IRS.

  42. Is there still room on this trip?

  43. I going on this trip(: but i was wondering how many people will be on the team? & how many people are on this one already?

  44. Beth, I am just wondering about an AORU. Upon completion, is it a place for the kids to live or solely for medical purposes.

    • Sydney, Actually, it is where the coordinators live and minister. The orphans usually already have land and a hut. We put the units in key areas where orphans have been identified. Orphanages are not the solution as most “own” land and a hut and don’t want to leave that.

  45. how can i get more information without definitely signing up?? 🙂

    • Evenlyn, If you call or email your specific questions, we will be happy to answer them ([email protected] or 321-453-0350).

  46. My friend and I would like to go on a teen missions trip (Not necessarily this one.) and were wondering how likely it would be that we are on the same team. Thanks!

    • Alice, If you apply on the same day and put the same choices and in the comment section, put that you want to be with …, then you should be together!

  47. Is there a film trip this year? I didn’t see one, I’m just making sure.

  48. I so want to go on this trip but me and my parents can’t afford it! God bless everyone who is going!!

    • Emma, Your parents don’t have to pay for it. We provide prayer cards and letters for you to send out to help you raise your support.

  49. Is there anymore room for girls on this trip?

  50. Will we be playing and ministering to orphans in Southern Sudan as well or just dealing more with construction of the building?

  51. I would be 19 by the start of the trip, would I be too old?

  52. I’m all signed up and excited to go on this trip! I got my prayer cards in a few weeks ago!
I want to try and learn a bit of the language that the people speak, but I don’t know which one it is, what language should I be learning?

  53. at the AORU ..will we have to deal with injury’s or are we just building it ??

  54. how can i get more information on this, like what to pack&such. because i have tons of questions!

  55. Hey guys, I went to Uganda and Southern Sudan in 2011, it was great. Honestly the best way to raise money is to leave it in God’s hands. All I did was sent out letters and prayed ALOT! And God provided everything from the trip cost, to spending money, to airplane tickets. So if I were you, put your trust in God and if this is what He wants you to be doing you will raise enough money.

  56. Is the bootcamp a separate thing from the trip or is the trip the bootcamp? Also is there a date that you would have to sign up by?

    • Emilie, Boot Camp, project time and Debrief are all part of the trip and are included in the dates listed. Teams are filled on a first-come, first-serve basis, so the sooner you sign up, the better chance you have of getting your first choice.

  57. What is a “refueling stop”, and for how long will we be in rome?

    • Katie, A refueling stop is when the airplane gets more fuel. At this point, I do not know the time frame of your Rome stop. We will not know that until we get the airline schedules.

  58. Is their an age you have to be over to go? I will be fifteen.

  59. sorry didn’t mean to say it three times

  60. When people go on missions trips they often ask for donations

  61. I was just wondering when the payments will be due for this trip? As in how much time will we have to raise each amount? I would love to be a part of this, how can I contact this ministry to discuss details?
    Thanks so much!

  62. Hey for the people who have gone on this trip does any body know any big ways to raise money$$$???!!! plz tell thats the only way me and my friend are gonna be able to go is if we raise money!!!

  63. How long will the team stay in Koboko after returning from Southern Sudan?

  64. So it’s for roughly 50 days?

  65. Sarah, AORU = AIDS Orphans Rescue Unit, a place where children who were orphaned due to AIDS reside and are cared for.

  66. What is an AORU?

  67. deos this have anything to do with kony 2012 ?

  72. I want to go but my parents aint got the money. 🙁

  73. Where is the boot camp base for this missions trip?

  74. Are there any specific customs that the girls have to abide by on this team?? I went to Egypt in 1989 and we couldn’t talk to the boys on our team. Wow that makes me feel really old, was it really that long ago???

  75. How much time will be spent in Koboko after working on the AORU in Yei?
