Australia Mission Trip

Head “Down Under” to the rugged bush in the hinterland of southern Queensland, Australia, for a summer of serving the Lord. Spend yourtime completing a number of work projects that will help in the expansion of a mission training center and youth camp.

After completing Boot Camp, your Australia mission trip adventure continues by bus to the Orlando International Airport and then by air via Los Angeles and Auckland, New Zealand to Brisbane. From Brisbane, you bus two hours north along the Sunshine Coast to the Teen Missions Australia Bible, Missionary & Work Training Center. There will be no shortage of work from painting and roofing a 108 year-old chapel, to doing block work and building a bush-walk bridge.

You will wake up many days with a view of kangaroos, wallabies, goannas and possibly a koala! As for the Aussie animals you won’t see at the property, you may have an opportunity to see them at the world-famous Australian Zoo, founded by the late Steve Irwin, Crocodile Hunter. Housing will be in dorms with hot showers available; laundry will be done using buckets. Opportunities to interact with Aussie young people will be provided as you minister in local churches, in youth groups and at public schools in religious education classes using drama, music, puppets and testimonies. On weekends you may have opportunities to evangelize at the local skateboard parks along the Sunshine Coast. You may also have a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to visit the historic Town of 1770, where there is snorkeling at the Great Barrier Reef among tropical fish, sea turtles and beautiful coral. A visit to Noosa Heads Beach, a surfer’s paradise, will provide an afternoon of relaxation along with shopping for all things Aussie, such as boomerangs, didgeridoos, sheepskins, Akubra hats, opals and “Snowy River” coats.

Are 9″ boots allowed as long as long as they are still tie-up, all leather uppers? (instead of the 6″-8″ boots)? YES, THEY ARE ALLOWED.

  5. Do we have to live in Florida? NO, WE HAVE TEAM MEMBERS COMING FROM ALL OVER THE US AND CANADA.

  6. Thanks 🙂

  7. Couple of questions:
    1. How do you handle when checks are written out to TMI, but my name apears in their memo?
    2. Do I write out coupons for people who are just randomly handing me checks and cash made out to my mom? (I know the monies need to be in the form of a cashiers check). SELINA, DON’T WORRY IF YOUR NAME APPEARS IN THE MEMO. JUST GO AHEAD AND SEND THEM IN. AS FOR CHECKS WRITTEN OUT TO YOU OR CASH, YOU CAN DEPOSIT THEM IN YOUR BANK ACCOUNT AND WIRTE A CHECK FOR THE TOTAL AMOUNT. YOU WILL NEED TO INCLUDE ONE COUPON FOR EVERYONE THAT DONATED THAT WAY WITH THE CHECK. IT DOES NOT HAVE TO BE A CASHIER’S CHECK UNTIL MAY (CHECK YOUR LITERATURE FOR THE EXACT DATE). WE WILL TAKE PERSONAL CHECKS UP UNTIL THAT TIME.

  8. Thank you!

  9. What dates will The Australia team be leaving the USA & returning? My passport application has this question and I need to answer it in order to get this processed. Thank you! SELINA, JUST GIVE THEM THE TOTAL DATES AS IT REALLY DOESN’T MATTER. THEY ARE WANTING TO KNOW HOW QUICK YOU WILL NEED YOUR PASSPORT.

  10. Thank you! I check them every month, but I had marked in my calendar VERY different dates. MARIE, WE UNDERSTAND. IT IS A LOT OF INFORMATION! 🙂

I registered for this missions trip back in July but then realized I am not able to go on this trip anymore. Do I need to call Teen Missions and tell them or is there an email I could use?

    • Anelise, Email the office ([email protected]) and we will get you cancelled.

  15. And what teams still have room?

  16. Hi,Im very interested on doing this but I have a few question. How long well we stay for?How can you Fundraise money for this? When is the best time to sign up for this?:)

  17. Ok. Great. Thank you for the information.

  18. Are there any spots for boys on this team?

    • KellyCee, This team is closed to both boys and girls. Vanuatu and Philippines are both open to boys. Philippines is closed to girls, but Vanuatu isn’t. If you are interested in Australia, you may be interested in the Philippines or Vanuatu.

  19. How much does it cost to go

  20. Hi, I just recently came across this website and the trips and it has been something I have wanted to do for a while. If we register for tjis team and it is filled up can we just switch to a different team or must we reregister?

    • Kis, Australia is full. You can register for another team. If your first choice is full, then we automatically go to your second choice and on down the line if necessary.

  21. How many people do you take per country team/group thingy?

  22. Is there any way that you could contact me if a spot opens to go to Australia? 🙂 I feel that God is calling me to do this one. If I cannot go this summer, will next summer have this as a mission trip?

    • Mattie, If you are registered, then we can put you on the waiting list. We cannot do that if you are not registered. We have not set the teams for 2014 yet. Have you considered the Philippines or Vanuatu?

  23. Hello, like Xavier I’m 17 and a high school senior. I know that God has called me to do international missions work and I really want to in a sense “get my feet wet” this summer. However, as I was reading some of your comments it said that this trip to Australia is already full. Is it too late to join the team for this summer?

    • Jessica, Yes, Australia is full at this time. However, all of the other teams are still open. Pray about where the Lord wants you to go.

  24. Hi,
my name is Xavier, and I dont know what i’m gonna do with my life. I live in Toronto, Canada and i’m a high school senior, i’m 17. Is it possible for me to do something similar to this with you guys?
    thanks

  26. Who is leading this team this year?

  27. Is Australia’s Team full already??

  28. Is there still room for girls on this trip?

  29. Anelise Marshall

Hi! On the missions trip packing list, it says to only bring construction boots for shoes. Does that mean that when we go to church or out into the city, we can only wear construction boots?

  30. Hi, I’m seriously thinking about coming on this trip is there any space left?

  31. How many spaces are left for girls, because I would love to go on this trip.

  32. Hi! I’m a 16 year old girl from Florida and I feel very led to join this trip. Is there still room? If so, how do I sign up?

    • Erica, There is still room for girls, but not a lot of room. If you are interested in China, perhaps you would consider the Philippines?

  33. This trip is filled up for boys right?

  34. Can you still sign up for mission trips this late?

  35. What is the required age for this trip? And also, what spiritual requirements do you have for the teens? My two oldest, who would be 15 and 17 next year have been questioning their faith, what they believe (making it their own). Would that be a problem?

    • Heidi, You must be at least 13 (or turn 13 during the program), so they would be able to go. We do not screen the kids, but we do screen the leaders.

  36. how many spots are open for the male species? because I still havent sighned up but I probably am so I want to know how much time I have before it will be too late?

  37. How long does it take to get filled up?

  38. Is there any room for more people? 🙁

  43. Me and my two sisters (were triplets) all want to go, but would we be able to stay together in the same dorm and for all the stuff? Also, what takes place at a boot camp?

    • Paige, I am not sure how the leaders would work it and it would depend on how large your team is. However, you will probably not tent together at Boot Camp. We want you to get to know everyone on your team.

  44. Hello, my name is jonathan unger, and im 14 but ill be turning fifteen july 3rd. i have been praying, and asking god where he wants me to go, and recently god said new zealand. I currently live in oregon, but i will be moving to san diego this november. Im wondering if their is any way i can join this mission this upcoming june?

  45. When you say they won’t be processed until the end of the summer, does that mean they are already being processed, or will they not be processed for a little while yet?

    • Andrew, I am back in the office next week and will process them. But the packets will not be mailed until later in the month.

  46. Correction Mrs. Beth…. Aussies speak THE BEST english

  47. How much money does the mission trip cost overall?

    • Kelsey, The “range” is listed. We won’t know the final cost until October/November when we get the airfare from the airlines.

  48. Mrs Beth, this is the team I am thinking of signing up for, but I have a question. Will we have to learn any australian prior to the team? 😛

  49. If I register now and I don´t raise enough money can I ¨unregister¨

    • KC, We will call you in the spring before doing the final booking of the airline tickets. At that point, you can cancel or switch to a cheaper team.

  50. is there a difference on early and super bootcamp?

    • Becky, $300 is to be received within 30 days of getting your support packet. We ask that all money be received by May 15. However, it is definitely due by the day you arrive at Boot Camp.

  53. will we have alot of time to explor? or do our own thing once a week or none at all?

  54. Anelise Marshall

What is all involved in boot camp?

  55. can you tell me where the trip go i dont understand what it says up there i think it says that we go from boot camp to orlando airport to la the to nz then back to ca then to Australia???

    • Mike, You are responsible for your round-trip transportation to/from Florida. TMI will provide transportation to/from Australia.

  56. how often will we be in new zealand? and what exactly will we be doing???
