Zambia/Kenya

Zambia Mission Trip

Imagine trying to cross a flooded river to get to school on the other side—without a bridge! This is a reality that thousands of children in Africa face every day.

After your training at the Lord’s Boot Camp, you bus to the Orlando International Airport for a flight to London, England via Miami. A connecting flight from London crosses the Mediterranean SeaSahara Desert and the Equator before arriving in Nairobi, Kenya. Your final flight takes you to Lusaka, Zambia.

From the airport, your Zambia mission trip experience continues on a five-hour bus ride to the Teen Missions in Zambia Bible, Missionary & Work Training Center in Ndola. From there, you will take a three-hour ride into the heart of the African bush. Your project is to build a much-needed bridge for a village that is not accessible during the rainy season.

2012 Zambia Water Filter Trip at Victoria Falls

With this bridge, children will be able to get to school and adults will be able to get medical help for their families. You will also minister to the village by playing with the orphans and sharing the Gospel message. Visiting Victoria Falls, one of the Seven Natural Wonders of the World, will be a highlight of your summer. You will have the opportunity to barter for wood carvings, soapstone, drums and national dress.

  1. I am the Artistic Director of a teen performance troupe that addresses social and economical issues through dance, music, and theatre. We are a group of service. I would like to have our troupe participate in a missions trip to Africa, together. Will they have the opportunity to stay together as a team with these mission trips? I HAVE FORWARDED YOUR MESSAGE TO THE APPROPRIATE DEPARTMENT.

  2. How much time do they get to spend playing with the orphans and spreading the Gospel? SARA, I CANNOT TELL YOU HOW MUCH TIME SPECIFICALLY. THE KIDS WILL ALWAYS BE AROUND. IF YOU ARE ON A WORK TEAM, YOU USUALLY WORK EIGHT HOURS A DAY. HOWEVER, I AM NOT SURE OF THIS TEAM’S SPECIFIC SCHEDULE.

  3. How many guys and how many girls have signed up for this trip so far? JACOB, I CANNOT GIVE OUT THAT INFORMATION FOR EVERY TEAM. HOWEVER, IT IS STILL OPEN, BUT THERE ARE ONLY A COUPLE MORE OF GUY SPOTS LEFT.

  4. This is my first year doing this and I’m super excited! Is there still room for girls for Zambia? I feel really called to go here. Also, are there specific vaccinations needed for this trip? ALYSHIA, YES, THERE IS STILL ROOM ON ZAMBIA. YOU WILL NEED TO CHECK WITH YOUR PHYSICIAN ON WHAT HE/SHE RECOMMENDS. NOTHING IS REQUIRED.

  5. Hi, I am very interested in this trip but just have a fear of getting attacked by animals… Will there be lions around where we are working? KATHERINE, WE HAVE BEEN SENDING TEAMS TO ZAMBIA FOR MANY YEARS AND HAVE NEVER HAD A PROBLEM WITH LIONS ATTACKING (OR EVEN SEEING LIONS IN THE WILD).

  6. I have seen pictures from a friend who was on the Zambia trip last year. The girls were usually wearing long skirts. Are these recommended/required? LAUREN, SOME TEAMS HAVE A DIFFERENT DRESS CODE DUE TO THE CULTURE THEY ARE MINISTERING IN. IN ZAMBIA, GIRLS WEAR SKIRTS.

  7. I’m sorry to bother with another question, but it’s about the Boot Camp. Does that just last a week and then would I go on the mission trip for the rest of the time? WESLEY, BOOT CAMP IS JUST OVER TWO WEEKS LONG.

    Thanks.

  8. Hey Sad Sad news BUT exciting news my sis got engaged and her wedding is June 15 so is there a way it could be moved or there is another trip in Zambia? Well Ive been praying super hard and I feel called that GOD is leading me to missions and missions in Zambia/Africa. Also I am 18 now and will be 19, so should I go on a trip with Teen Missions International? I love what your doctorine is and hope to work with y’all but I have no idea where GOD will take me. So I will pray for the AMAZING job you are doing spreading GOD’s word. But I need heavy prayer over what to do. I saw this mission trip and it is EXACTLY what I would love to go on but I can not miss my sister’s wedding. So just pray for me and my decision on where GOD is leading me.

  9. Hey,
My name is Matthew McClure. I live in Southern Indiana and go to college at Vincennes University. I am very interested on going to a mission trip to Africa/ South Africa. I am majoring in Culinary arts, and I will finish in Spring 2013. I would love to go on a mission trip over there or even work in the mission field over there. I have a heart for missions and first had a calling to Africa at CIY 2010. The mission was ActiveWater in Zambia. I looked on the CIY Engage and saw that this mission went to Zambia. I checked out the website and here I am. I have no idea on where GOD is calling me, so I do not where I will end up after I graduate. Can you get back to me on information on when the trips are and the average cost of a mission trip over to Africa/ South Africa. Thank you so much for everything you do in the world.
    Thanks,
    Matthew McClure

  10. Kendra – TMI sends you a list of fundraising ideas, and you get support letters to send to your relatives, church family, and friends. My siblings and I have done five trips with TMI and God has provided for us every time. Don’t let fear of trying to raise all that money hold you back! God has the money and he’s waiting on your faith. Go for it – it’ll change your life!

  11. This sounds like a life changing event and i would love to gop but the only question i have is… Are the passports included when you pay all of this money??? please respond. thank you:)
