China — 12019 (7/2/12)

The China team is very happy that we are on the “down hill slide” of Boot Camp. We leave in six days! The team continues to work well together. They have completed their drama and phonics classes. Starting tomorrow and throughout the week, the team will having classes in digging, carpentry, steel-tying, trusses, advanced evangelism along with music and puppets.

We have not had rain since Tuesday or Wednesday, so everyone and every thing is drying out or has dried out. However, it is getting hot. We are suppose to read the mid-90’s today.
We are thankful for such a good group of kids. You parents have done well raising them. They are very respectful and it is exciting to see how the Lord is already working in their lives.
Sarah Quisenberry-Boot Camp has been a challenge! It has been wet, not and very difficult to stay dry. The mosquitoes are horrid and we have to flush the toilets with a bucket of water. But I find that through these hardships, Jesus is always there. I find strength in His Word and courage to face the trials of the day. I am learning to give my all to Christ by being a servant to my teammates, working in the team SBs, and listening in the classes. Boot Camp is hard, yes. But it is also a time where you can grow in the Lord, if you let Him. I have a long way to go. I am far from perfect and I struggle with so much. But i know that I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me.
David Houser-Before I came here, my walk with God was OK, but that was it. It was just OK. Boot Camp has stretched me in a lot of ways. My relationship with Christ is getting stronger every day. But I do not want to lie to you. Yesterday and the day before I thought to myself, “What am I doing here?” I could be home and doing what I want. This summer was going to be my first summer of “freedom”. I have a car, money and friends and my parents are letting me make my own plans. But then I remembered why I came here in the first place. Because this would be my first summer that I could serve the Lord overseas. I want to some day be a pastor and this would be a great experience. God has called me to go to China. I Corinthians 16:13 says, “Be on your guard; stand firm in the faith; be men of courage; be strong. Do everything in love.” Here at Boot Camp, I strongly encourage you to be strong. We only have one week left!
