Peru Missions Trip“I’ll tell you the truth, if you have faith as small as a mustard seed, you can say to this mountain, ‘move from here to there’ and it will move. Nothing will be impossible for you.” Matthew 17:20-21

O Canada! Happy Canada day to Chelsea Parrott, our only team member from Canada. We were blessed to be able to share and celebrate with her on her country’s day of independence. For supper, the kitchen staff made a Canadian dish- poutine, and for dessert we had a sugar cookie with red icing in the shape of a maple leaf.

We had our first balloon class on Tuesday. They learned how to make a dog, turtle, fish, cross, sword and flower. We will be using balloons in Peru as a tool to share the love of Jesus Christ. The first week of Boot Camp, the team was struggling on the obstacle course. They would run out of time before completing it and were struggling with staying together as a team. On Tuesday they finally got it and were united because of it. They have gone over the wall except for three kids which we will work on getting them over before Boot Camp finishes. The wall teaches them to overcome their fears, trust in their team to not let them fall and depend on God who will give them strength.

The weather has been dry, hot and humid. We have had no major medical problems. I have been treating some of the girls who have had blisters and those have greatly improved.

Jessica Doebler- Boot Camp has been great. On Registration Day we got to see a satellite shot into space. The obstacle course is so much fun. I have made it over the slough and the wall! The classes are fun. Puppets and block laying are my favorite. In puppets, we have learned choreography to songs to do while the puppets are singing, and we have learned how to lay a block wall. Now, I am to the my two favorite parts of the day: meals and rally. The food is wonderful here and you’re always wondering what the next delicious meal will be. The rally’s are the best part of the day. We worship and find out who won what award and we make up cheers. We have gotten the pool three times so for as a reward. It felt like a bath. Boot Camp has also helped my personal life with god. I have devotions every morning and I love it. Boot Camp has been a great experience.

Lily Nelson- Boot Camp is most certainly one of the most difficult thins I have done in my life, but it is also one of the most rewarding. It is amazing to spend two weeks in a place where everything is centered around God with none of the distractions of the secular world. Because of this, I have been able to see God working in myself and my team. Growing up as an only child, I have always relied on myself, my parents and a few others; since coming here I have learned to trust my fellow team members and my leaders completely. If I had not experienced this for myself I would never have expected anything like it. It has become obvious to me that God works like none other.
