Project begins in Peru – 12024

We have only been here 2 days so far and we can’t wait to finally get started on our project!!!!  Josiah went out Wednesday afternoon to get building supplies needed to finish building the church. There is a lot that is done already but there is also a lot that needs to be done.  We started working on Thursday as it took time to talk with the pastor and his wife about their vision for their church and what they wanted it too look like. (ie windows or any special touches they wanted that we could possibly make happen).  The team began working on the layout and digging about 1-1 ¼ deep holes in the ground for the footer. They also began cutting rebar and breaking up the ground to make it level, in order to pour the concrete floor. We are really blessed because when Josiah went to get bricks he was told that it was going to take a month. Well Judy and Demas know someone who goes to the church who owns a brick factory and got them a better price and the bricks are going to be delivered next Wednesday. So that was a blessing from God. We have not used puppets this week, but we will be using them on Saturday. The church is having a welcoming service for us and we will be giving a full presentation.  The weather is hot a humid during the day but it gets cool at night which makes it easy for the team to sleep! They are sleeping in dorm rooms.  We were blessed to have bed frames and some of the beds have mattresses. The team has such a positive outlook and is just really excited to begin working on finishing up the church!

  1. Yay! You made it to Pucallpa! Sounds like an interesting time in the airport. I just got back from Spain, but that only took 22 hours. Thank you so much for the updates and pictures of the kids! Praying for you daily. LOVE YOU ASHLEY!!!! (Granny loves you too!)

  2. I’m on call tonight and can’t stop thinking and praying for John and the rest of this Peru team. It’s exciting to hear about what God is doing through and in these teens. Thank you Teen Missions and these great leaders out there with them. They really know how to roll with the punches and be creative when things don’t happen as planned. God is stretching their faith over there as he is our on this side of the ocean.

Does the team get to read these comments before they return?

  3. Praise the Lord! We are praying that all will go great with the digging and blocks! God Bless the whole team!
