China Report #2
The China team is doing well and accomplishing a lot! The team has been busy working to get the camp ready for the campers who will be arriving on Monday afternoon. They have worked on the climbing wall and are about ready to attach it to the wall. In addition, they have been working on the pond—putting in a new liner and rearranging the rocks surrounding it. They have also been doing general maintenance on the grounds, cleaning up the classrooms and dorms, etc.
Our day begins at 5:30. Since it is light out by 5 AM, it is easy to get up and going. At 5:45 we have “game time” and then work begins at 6. Breakfast is at 7:30, followed by devotions. Work begins again at 8:30 – 12 noon. After lunch, we have Bible Study and library reading. We are back to work at 2 and quit at 5. Dinner is at 5:30 and Grubby To Grace/God’s Gentleman are at 7:30 with evening devotions following. We are in bed by 9 PM.
We are planning on leaving tomorrow to go see the Terra Cotta Warriors and we will return on Sunday evening. We are all looking forward to seeing them. We hope to get our money exchanged today and have a quick trip into town this evening.
The team is working hard and it is exciting for the leadership to watch them grow spiritually. Please continue to pray for the team’s health. Several are still battling coughs and colds. Also, please pray as they start working at the English Camp—some will be teachers, others counselors, and some are involved in music/drama and others in the various recreation activities. It should be a busy and exciting two weeks. We, as a leadership, are sure that this team will “shine for Jesus” as they minister to the campers through their various responsibilities and the new-found friendships that will be formed.
Daniel Good-This trip has let me learn so much about God. He has let met learn through being sick. He has really spoken to me the the Psalms and I & II Timothy because Timothy struggled with his health. These Scriptures have really helped me get through the sickness. I have felt like I am under spiritual attack for awhile and these Scriptures have helped me. God has really been teaching me that we all have a job to do and that we need to do it even if we don’t feel like it.
Kayla Reimold-Ni-Hao! I am so glad that I have the opportunity to talk about my experience this summer. Even though Boot Camp is over, I have made memories that I won’t soon forget—from the OC and cannon balling into the Slough to the evening Rallies. Making new friends has been a highlight of my summer. Through it all, I believe that God has been teaching me to trust in Him and to understand that everything has a purpose. I have learned that I cannot always be in control of the situation I am in. Please keep our team in your prayers as we prepare for the campers to arrive.
