As this is being written, the team is waking up from their Sunday afternoon nap. Despite sleeping for 9+ hours last night, they are still tired…and Sunday is a day of rest. This morning the team did a presentation at Saskatchewan River Church, about 20 minutes away from the base. A potluck lunch followed.
Yesterday (Saturday) we took the day off and went to the beach – Gardiner Dam to be exact. The water was pretty cold, but so was the ice cream! Aidan was the only one interested in watching the 20-minute video with Mr. Greg about how the dam was constructed, although Kymberly and Lauren did catch the end of it as well. We returned to camp for a national dinner made by Mrs. Shirley (TMI staff for the Canada base) consisting of salad, mashed potatoes, bison burgers, peas & carrots, and (more) ice cream with local berries.
On Friday the team finished out the 5-day club with a BBQ for lunch – hot dogs & hamburgers & soda. In the afternoon the team presented at another senior residence, and completed a bit more work on the camp. In the evening, a local astronomer stopped by for a brief talk on the stars, and then set up his telescope for some stargazing. It was all accompanied by a bonfire with smores.
“The Lord can do some amazing things through us being Christians. Like for me, He taught me how to be a better person through Teen Missions this summer.” –Sam
“I’ve been with “TMI” for 3 years now and the other years were different. This year I’ve learned to work better with my team members and listen to what they say, to act better to my leaders too. God’s been a part of my life and I understand what He says.” –Elizabeth
