The team is doing great. We are into our last full day of camp. The campers are leaving tomorrow afternoon. The team has done great at every assignment given them—teaching, recreation, counselors, cleaning bathrooms, etc. Relationships have been formed. Questions are being asked. They do notice the things we are doing—devotions, classes, singing, etc.
Last night was the banquet and the Chinese outfits were done “just in time”. They all looked really nice.
Tonight will be the bon fire where they will roast sweet potatoes and marshmallows. We are praying that the weather will cooperate. There was quite a bit of rain yesterday afternoon and then it stopped and started again as we were serving dinner. It is suppose to rain again this afternoon.
After the campers leave tomorrow, we will go into town to do some shopping and get adjustments made to any of the outfits that are needed. On Sunday, we will travel an hour to Tiyuan City for church. After church, we plan on going to McDonald’s (YEA!) and then to an amusement park. When we return to camp, we will be having quiz off, evening devos and if there is time, GG classes.
Monday and Tuesday will be spent doing clean up and rearranging the beds to accommodate the next camp which will arrive after we leave. We are leaving on Wednesday morning for Beijing via the “fast train” (3 1/2 hours vs a 12-hour bus ride). We will be visiting many of the sites in Beijing, including the Great Wall on Thursday (and shopping of course) before flying to Debrief on Aug. 4 and arriving in Orlando late on August 4.
It is hard to believe that in less than two weeks, everyone will be home. I know that is exciting for you, but very sad for us as leaders…Pray that everyone will finish strong and that the team relationships will continue to be developed during our last few days together. It will be VERY hard to part with these precious kids that you have entrusted to us this summer. They are an AMAZING team!!!!
