July 29 – We celebrated Christmas in July by singing Christmas carols during devos. During evening devotions each team member had an opportunity to share a family memory or tradition. It was fun to hear each one share a special family memory with the rest of the team.
Our work project this week has mainly been digging the septic tank, leveling the ground inside the building and digging a drainage ditch. The team is growing tired of moving dirt! Once the cap beams are in place we hope to start laying block for the walls. Yesterday we walked to the nearby village for a soccer game. We enjoyed playing with the children. Today we attended a church service in the morning and had a great time of fellowship afterwards. After church we went to the market and the team enjoyed ice cream, clod drinks and junk food!
It’s hard to believe we only have one week left, our time has gone by so quickly. The team has thoroughly enjoyed working along side the Indonesian BMW
students and staff. We are expecting a visit from Bill Heckman, the director of Indonesia on Tuesday. Our evening devos this week have been lead by Bethany, Noah, Jakob, Aubrey and Guss.
We want to thank everyone for all of their prayers! The team is healthy and is doing really well.
Aug. 1 –
Today the team was blessed by a visit from Bill Hekman, Coordinator of Teen Missions in Indonesia
. He came to see the project and meet the team. He was very pleased with the work that has been accomplished and enjoyed getting to know the team members. The team is happy and sad to have only three days left here. Sad because they have loved their time here in Borneo, on the other hand, happy because they are excited to start heading home to see family and friends.
The team has been able to complete the digging of the 6′ x 4′, 3 meters deep septic tank. The inside of the building has been leveled and is ready for concrete. They continue working on the wooden structure of the building but have not been able to lay any block yet. The team has dedicated themselves to working strong, completing as much as possible.
When Mr. Hekman visited, he brought a stack of mail. We were all thrilled to relay news from home and share prayer requests that we had learned about in our letters. Devotions were led by Aubrey. Last night we heard from Camdon, and the night before, Kasey Jo shared during team devotions. All of us are healthy. The weather is hot and dry, no rain for the past two weeks. We went without water for two days, having to bathe in the river and drink bottled water, but God restored our source of water today so we can wash clothes and bucket bathe.
We have confirmed our tickets and will be ready to begin travel to Singapore on Sunday. It will be a great time of sightseeing and souvenir shopping. And then we will begin our journey back to the States on Tuesday for Debrief. This will be our last report from Indonesia. We will have peace in our hearts as we go forward.
