Chambers, Amyann (Fall, 2012)

My Dear Friends,

This summer was a huge blessing to me. It also was a challenge unlike any other. Puppet classes went well

and so did Builders, thank you so much for your prayers. The rest of my time at Boot Camp was spent lifeguarding and drumming for the evening rallies. It was a very busy summer, very stretching, but God helped me a lot and it was great. My team was good; even though it was the last team I pictured myself on. I wound up going to Canada instead of Indiana. It was a preteen team of ten kids. They were wonderful. They had their ups and downs, but they are amazing kids. Instead of going to fairs, the team to Canada stayed and worked at a camp. We were able to go to a “Five Day Club” and at the end the host treated us to a cookout. The kids did puppet shows and sang at retirement homes, churches, a camp, and a farmers market. They did such a good job. One day we got to hand out brochures and fudge mix at a parade. The fudge was labeled “the Goodness

of God.” It was to show that God’s goodness and love is sweet and free. The kids enjoyed being in a parade and enjoyed eating some of the fudge that wasn’t passed out.

Before the summer I went with some of the other staff and students to help set up one of Teen Missions life size replicas of the Old Testament Tabernacle. We broke up into three groups so we could set up three tabernacles. One went to South Carolina, one to Wisconsin and my group went to Ontario, Canada. We will be moving the tabernacles in the middle of October, so that is something you can keep in your prayers. My top job was to make sure the people in my group got enough to eat. I really enjoy cooking. When someone has a tasty meal or a special treat it can brighten their day, simply by the thought that went into it.

The Tabernacle Almost Finished

After the summer I was able to spend a couple weeks in Texas with my family. It was so good to see everyone. I have been serving full time with Teen Missions for six years now and don’t see my family too often. I have missed them so much. For me that is the hardest thing about being a missionary. I didn’t realize how much they meant to me until I didn’t have them around. God has really been teaching me how to value everything I have while I have it. We should treasure all the blessings God has bestowed upon us. It is so easy to look at all the little things which go wrong in our lives, and forget to look at all the things that we are given. I want you to know I appreciate all the prayer and support all of you have given me in these past few years. I pray and thank God for you each day, you are a treasure from the Lord.

In Christ’s Love,

Amyann Chambers
