Dear Family and Friends,
Greetings in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ. We miss all of you very much. It has been a long time since you heard from us. We are so thankful that over the period that we have been silent, the Lord has been dealing with our hearts and the ministry very much. We have come to the point of realizing that it is all because of your prayers for us that we continue to exist in ministry out here. Thank you very much for praying for us even though you heard nothing from us for a while.
There is a lot of information to give you for the sake of keeping you updated ever since our last newsletter. If I am not mistaken, you have not heard from us since we returned from the States in July, 2011.
Now to begin. Right after we had returned from Florida, we assumed our responsibilities of overseeing the Mangochi Base, Chiyao BMW. From July, 2010-2012, we only had four students. In September 2011 we recruited five more students. Praise the Lord that our student body had expanded to nine. Our responsibilities and ministry grew bigger too. Towards the end of October last year, Mat and Heni, the Malawi country coordinators, left for a nine-month medical leave to Mat’s home country of Canada. We were therefore asked to pick up their big responsibilities of overseeing the ministry and finances. It was our first time to take over the ministry for a long period of time. Our daily schedule became very involving to the point that we lost most of our personal communication with you dear friends. We are so thankful that some of you kept on writing us and encouraging in prayers.
It was a period of learning to do a lot of things. Yes, indeed the Lord taught us a lot more stuff than we expected. One big thing that we learned is to give all our time to the Lord and that everything belongs to Him and that we stand here for His purpose. We realized that our sweat in ministry became a huge blessing to the lives of people we served.
Just to give you the picture of how big the ministry of TMI is here in Malawi, We have four BMW schools with a total of 73 students. We have a school taught in Chiyao here in Mangochi, two in Chipoka, one is taught in Chichewa and the other in English and the last one has just been opened in Bolero, Rumphi District in the Northern region of Malawi. In 2010 -2012 the total number of students in the three schools was below 30. Praise the Lord that our numbers since have doubled. We also had a lot more applicants that we could not accept because of the budget limitation. If there was no budget limitation, we could probably gone up to 100 students.
We also have 10 Orphan Rescue Units and two Matron Units. The Rescue Units are continuing meeting the needs of the orphans and the vulnerable kids. The Units are in the villages of Nkhotakota, Rumphi, Salima, Dedza, Dowa, Ntcheu and Mangochi Districts. Praise the Lord that we got a container of used clothes from Florida to be handed out to orphans. We want to thank all those who gave up their clothes for the helpless children here in Malawi. I also want to thank the Florida TMI office for doing a great work of packing and shipping it. Thousands and thousands of children were blessed by the container.
We also have the Motorcycle Sunday School Ministry going on. There are two full circuits running in Dedza and Nkhotakota. Each circuit gets to minister to six villages in a week. We also have two half circuit running in Saslima and Mangochi. Each half circuit gets to minister in three villages over the weekends. We do also Sunday schools in the places where we have Rescue Units. It is amazing to see how lives of people are being affected by this ministry. Sunday school does not only help people to accept Christ as Lord and Savior of their lives, but it also makes people to be efficient and competitive teachers of the Word of God. The ministry of Sunday schools fully obeys the Great Commission of Jesus Christ in Matthew 28:18-20. It is the tough ministry, requiring good preparations before you take the lessons out to the people but has so far started producing amazing results. Praise the Lord for this ministry.
We are also running Boot Camps here. For the first time this year, we had to run four Boot Camps. There were two Boot Camps at our main base in Chipoka. One was for Preteens which had four teams and the other one was a teen Boot Camp and had six teams. For the first time ever since we opened Mangochi Base, we had our Boot Camp this year. We had a total of 129 youth on four teams. After Boot Camp training, we sent all these teams into the densely Islamic populated areas to share the Good News of Jesus Christ. Praise God because of the wonderful reports that the teams brought back.
We did also ran another Boot Camp for the first time up north at Bolero in Rumphi district. There were also four teams. Rumphi base is new but is doing very well. The base is in the village where water is not available. We did try to drill a well, but unfortunately we went as deep as 100 feet, but could not reach water. We probably need a very good company with a bigger machine to drill to water. Help us in prayers that our base there must be able to get the solution to it. The problem is they do not have enough finances to cover the well.
Finally I would like to thank all those who have stood with us here in Mangochi right from the time we started the ministry. There are people who have come on several teams and personally made a physical contribution on the work. Some of you have been financial partners of this ministry ever since it started. There are also some people who have been supporting us [some monthly, some with one time gifts] we are so grateful because of all that.
We also want to let you know that our support is still low and we appeal to all those who want to be a blessing to our ministry to send their contributions to TMI in Florida and please fill out the coupon below.
We love you and pray for you. May God bless you abundantly and wishing you happy 2013.
In Christ’s Ministry,
Dave, Janet & Michael Chale
One thing have I asked of the Lord, that will I seek after:
that I may dwell in the house of the Lord all the days of my life,
to gaze upon the beauty of the Lord and to inquire in his temple.
