Bobb, Shannon and Vikki (Winter 2013)

Bobb Staff Newsletter WOW! Can you believe it’s 2013? This past year has been a year of changes and challenges but God has been faithful through it all. In the last 12 months, we saw Taylor graduate from Asbury University and accept a position teaching English in China, Canaan transferred from Asbury to UCF and changed his major to history. He told us that God is calling him to serve in Russia. Madison went on her first teen team and started Junior High. We were assigned new responsibilities at Teen Missions and just recently moved from our home on Heavenly Street to the Teen Missions property. I know I don’t want to face this coming year without God’s hand guiding me every step of the way. Please pray that we would be obedient and willing to follow wherever God leads. This verse has become a constant reminder to us: “A man’s heart plans his way, But the Lord directs his steps.” Proverbs 16:9

We are looking forward to a visit from Taylor in February. She will come home for 11 days during the Chinese New Year. It will definitely be a blessing to see her and have her home for a few days. She loves teaching in China! This past year we led a team of teens to Indonesia. We shared about that team in our last newsletter. However, we wanted to share this story of religious persecution endured by one of our Bible school graduates in the same area:     A girl was beaten by hundreds of Muslims in May and arrested by the police for preaching the Gospel of the Lord Jesus Christ. She and another evangelist were held in prison and threatened with a five-year prison term. Their only crime was preaching the Gospel to people who are already religious. The police used her Bible as proof of her crime. She said that her thoughts during her beating were of Jesus who was also beaten and suffered for her! They were released from prison and are now preaching and sharing Christ again. Please remember her and other Christians in this area that they will continue to faithfully share the Gospel of Jesus Christ even in prison. Pray for salvation for the population of the area. Pray for the Christians living and working in that province. Pray for those who beat her as Jesus prayed for those who crucified him. What a privilege is was to spend our summer building a Bible School that will train more Christians to share the Bible in Indonesia. Please pray for the seven Bible Schools in Indonesia as they train young men and women to be missionaries and pastors. This past Christmas, the students held Christmas parties for the children that attend their “Good News Clubs.” Here is a summary of the parties held: 138 CHRISTMAS CELEBRATIONS 5121 CHILDREN ATTENDED 2316 CHILDREN ACCEPTED THE LORD What an incredible work going on there! We have been assigned to lead the Panama team this summer. Our team will work with a ministry on the San Blas Islands that reaches out to the teenagers of the Kuna Indians, who are native to the islands. We will be removing a damaged second story on a building and constructing a roof over the structure. One of our biggest challenges this summer will be the language barrier.  The Kuna speak their own tribal language and do not speak Spanish or English.  Please pray that God can tear these barriers down and communication will be easy.   Zoe will travel with us. Canaan and Madison are both registered to go on the Russia team. Canaan will be an assistant leader. This will be Madison’s first summer “on her own” and not traveling with us. We need to raise nearly $6500.00 for the cost of these summer teams. If you would like to contribute to our children’s team cost, please complete the special coupon below. We are so grateful for your generosity and we stand in awe each year when these needs are abundantly met!

This Christmas some very special friends gave us an amazing gift–a 2006 Chrysler Town and Country mini-van.  We are so humbled but their generosity.  Our Toyota van was 12 years old and had 220,000 miles on it.  In fact, Shannon and I my brother were in the process of installing a transmission on it when our friends called.   We cannot adequately express how thankful we are for this blessing and for such special friends who, in their words, “Only did what God told them to do.”   Thank you!!!!   So many of you bless us in so many ways as well.   We are eternally grateful for each and every one of you! In closing, we would like to thank everyone who took time to host us, shared a meal with us, visit with us and support us this past year. We had a great time in Ohio over Christmas and had the opportunity to meet with many of you. Thank you to the following churches that we were able to worship and fellowship with: Storms Chapel Christian Union Buchanan Christian Union Bethel Chapel Christian Union Bainbridge United Methodist Heritage Christian Union Beasley’s Fork Christian Union There are so many more that we didn’t have the time to visit.  We wish we had more time.  Be sure that we pray for all of you and have plans to get to each and every church soon! We also want to thank all of you who attended our “Thanks for Giving Dinner.” It was so good to see so many people come out and let us serve them. We had over 125 people come and we are so grateful for each and every one that has a role in our ministry team, whether as prayer warriors financial supporters or encouragers. THANK YOU!!!!! In Christ,   Shannon and Vikki Bobb Colossians 3:23
