A big “Hello” to our family, friends, church and former team mates!
Like road signs that warn us of impending danger, there are also warning signs for me on my road of homeschooling. I can either take heed to the dangers that they clearly indicate lay ahead, or I can choose to disobey common hazard signs and end up in a homeschooling wreck. I am reminded of my imperfect nature when I see the “Slippery When Wet” sign of tears in my daughters’ discouraged faces. They instantly remind me of how important loving encouragement is when teaching academics (no matter how frustrating the situation!!!) and that I might need to set school work aside to do just that. I have learned not to ignore my girls when they are exceeding the posted “Speed Limit”, hurrying through schoolwork in order to play or do anything else not school related. I take off my “teacher hat” and put on my “mom hat” when the “High Wind Warning” sign comes to my attention, and godly correction and discipline are needed for angry outbursts, stomping feet and whispered grumblings. It would be easier to just pretend like I haven’t seen the “hazard signs”, but I know that disregarding them will cause an accident. Although my girls are supposed to be the students, God continues to use homeschooling as a tool to teach me. There are warning signs that God posts for me too. When I start to see evidences of hostility, quarreling, jealousy, outbursts of anger, selfish ambition, dissension and division in my life, I know that I am heading down the perilous road of living in the flesh and that I need to take the next exit, read the Bible and pray before I get pulled over by the Holy Spirit. How thankful I am that God faithfully gives me warnings signs so that my life can keep heading in the right direction! Please pray that God would continue to help Mike and I to recognize the danger signs of evil in our lives and to keep our eyes and hearts turned in the right direction. Pray also that God would continue to teach us how to stay close to Him and His Word so that we can stay on the path that leads to righteousness!
Six years ago we led our first team as husband and wife to the castle-dotted country of Wales. This summer, we will be heading back! We will be working with Save the Family (STF) again, a ministry that gives hope to homeless and hurting people, by providing for their body, soul and spirit. Whether it is building an exercise course, painting, landscaping or doing a children’s program using the music, puppets and dramas we will learn at Boot Camp, our team will be busy! We look forward to rekindling old friendships with faces from the past and to forging new ones with those whom we will meet. Please pray that God would give us His eyes for all people, and that our words and actions would reflect Him. It is an honor and a privilege to be an ambassador for Christ but it is also a great responsibility! May we serve Him and serve Him well…with a selfless faith.
Thank you for continuing to take a personal interest in our lives and in our ministry with Teen Missions. We trust that God will bring many people to Boot Camp this summer and that many lives will be changed and saved here in America and overseas as well. Thank you also for your faithful prayers and financial support that allows us to continue on with the ministry of Teen Missions. We are grateful for the work the Lord has put before us.
More prayers requests and praises…
~Our 3 week road trip up the East Coast (we made stops in Georgia, North Carolina, Ohio, Pennsylvania and New York) was a HUGE success and a much-needed time of refreshment and renewal for us. Of course we have included pictures!!!! Thank you so much to those of you who welcomed us into your homes and made us feel so loved and cherished. Our memories from the trip are gifts that we will open and reopen for years to come.
~We also continue to seek God’s wisdom as we raise and home school Kenya, Isabelle & Lily.
~We praise the Lord for our faithful prayer and financial supporters during these difficult economic times.
~We also praise the Lord for the privilege to serve the Him in missions full-time.
~We ask that you pray for continued wisdom for us and that we would follow His guidance daily. I know this sounds like a rote prayer, but we really do have things coming up constantly that need God’s wisdom.
