Dear Friends and Family:
Winter Jam Tour:
As most of you know, this was the second year that Teen Missions has sponsored Winter Jam, a Christian music concert tour. The East Coast tour consisted of the following:
• 143 tour personnel
• 10 tour buses
• 4 semi-trucks
• 10 Christian Bands
• 44 cities visited
• Over 553,000 attendees
• Over 150,000 making commitments to Christ
Our role as a sponsor of the Winter Jam Tour allowed us to set up a booth to gather and pass out information, run a Teen Missions video in the main stadium and make an announcement to the crowd inviting them to come on mission trips with our ministry. Here are a couple of stories from the road shared from Ryan’s perspective:
Cleveland, OH – During intermission, a mom and her young son passed my booth. The mom leaned over to me and told me that she was going to sign her 12 year old son up to come on a mission trip with us. I asked her if she had heard of Teen Missions before tonight and she said “no,” but that ever since her son was five years old, he had been telling his parents that he wanted to be a missionary. Now at age 12, he was still convinced that this was what God was calling him to do but the mission trips with his church would not allow anyone his age to come. When they heard about our Preteen trips at the venue, they were convinced that this was an answer to prayer! I felt like I was literally looking at a carbon copy of myself when I was that age and was blessed to have a time of prayer with this young man and his mother.
Tupelo, MS – Tonight it seemed like we had a constant flow of people coming by our booth in need of prayer and the Bible school students who were volunteering at my booth were more than willing to do this. Frequently, I would observe them having great conversations and praying with people. Out of one of these conversations I got to pray with a young lady to receive God’s precious gift of Salvation in her life!
Birmingham, AL – Working very steadily, the seven volunteers at this location made this venue a very good night. Of particular note was Rachel and her Dad. Rachel is signed up to go on the team to Russia this upcoming summer and she informed me that it was at this very venue last year that she first heard about Teen Missions and as a result is now going on a team! Very cool to hear about this fruit from last year that I didn’t even know about!
Our Newest Arrival
On January 23rd, we welcomed Ezekiel “Zeke” Mark Fast into our family. He arrived nearly two weeks early, but he was no lightweight, weighing in at 9 lbs. 10 oz and 22 inches in length making him by far our biggest baby yet! He has definitely worked his way into our family and our hearts with his warm smile and little giggles. Every morning, when Abby and Micah wake up, the first thing they do is go find Zeke to interact with him. We are so happy to have him in our lives.
Ryan is getting really excited to lead the team to Haiti this year. It is a full team, with over 20 kids registered so far, and we are excited to report that likewise, God has put together a great group of six adults to lead the team. Specifically, Ryan would covet your prayers as the team is preparing for the summer. For each member of the team, please pray for discernment wisdom, financial provision, and a burden for the lost people of the world that they will inevitably encounter during their travels.
Additionally, Micah has signed up to participate in the Nehemiah Trusses Peanut team. He will get to be a carpenter for Jesus at the Peanut Kids Camp! During this camp, Micah will continue to learn construction skills, be trained on how to share the Gospel using music, puppets and the Wordless Book, and have an opportunity to do a presentation when he visits a local nursing home. Last year he prayed to receive Christ at the Peanut Camp and this year we are praying for continued spiritual growth in his young life.
As we look towards this summer we have one specific financial need that needs to be met. The kids and I are going to be traveling to and from Florida in June to minister in the Boot Camp program and to allow Micah to participate in the Peanut Camp program. Will you join with us as we pray that the Lord will raise up individuals who would be willing to contribute towards our travel expenses to and from Florida? If you feel led to participate, please complete the form below and mail it in with your check.
Praising God For:
1) His financial provision for us as a family in vocational ministry!
2) The opportunities that we have had to be on a mission for God over the course
of this school year. We’ve seen nearly 150 sign up for mission trips from the 10
Western states we recruit in!
3) The amazing recruiting season that Teen Missions has had to date with nearly
700 signing up for teams so far.
1) Continued building up of our spiritual and financial support while we are on a
mission for God
2) Pray for the Haiti team that Ryan will be leading this summer. Specifically:
• Wisdom in leadership
• The team members to have a burden for the lost
• Passion and zeal for each team member to walk as Jesus did (I John 2:6)
Thank you again for all of your prayers and financial support. It is our heart’s greatest passion to work with the teenagers of today and teach them how to go into all the world and make more disciples. Your support, both in prayer and finances, facilitates our path into vocational ministry each and every day and it is truly a privilege to be on a mission for God in this manner. If you ever have any questions about the nature of our ministry, what we do and how we do it, please don’t hesitate to give us a call or drop us a note. We’d love to connect with you.
