Lane Staff Newsletter

Dear Family and Friends,

Lane 2013Greetings from sunny Florida! Rejoice in the Lord always. The flowers and trees are blooming as well as Boot Camp with the eight bright red, white and blue Big Top tents that have been set up by staff and teenage church groups on Spring Break from the north. It would’ve been hard for us if they didn’t come.  It was a great time of fellowship.

Well, the tents are up, now we are putting in the stages and 800 folding chairs, lights, sound system, fire extinguishers, fire exit signs and no smoking signs that are a requirement of the fire department. There are also 800 food trays, bowls, cups, duffels, carry-ons, toilet paper rolls, hard hats, canteens and T-shirts that go to the leaders and team members. For training classes we have 200 block trowels, 300 picks, 300 shovels, 100 hammers, 100 handsaws, 100 wheelbarrows, 50 bikes, nails, screws and wood. Then out comes the two-person tents, 325 of them. In our spare time all the food has to be packed for 25 overseas teams.

Lane 2013All the staff and students start our 1000 hours of 24 hour a day prayer on April 20. You might want to pray with us and for us. What would we do without the power of prayer?

God has blessed us again with our fifth great grandson, Miles, born March 31st to our granddaughter Bonnie. With Sara, our great granddaughter, that makes six. They are such a blessing. We often see Brennen and Gage since they live nearby. The spring garden is doing well with kale greens, yellow squash, zucchini, cucumbers, tomatoes, eggplant, beans and mangos.

Lane 2013Betty and I are well and able to be at the office each day thanks to God. When Boot Camp starts June 7th, we move into one of the lodges with a small kitchen with air conditioning. We’re not planning on traveling overseas this summer. I (Bob)  might take a short trip to Guatemala to set up a team at an orphanage. We’ll help at the office and Debriefs here.

Lane 2013God blessed us with a newer car from our old 1997 Buick to a 2007 Buick. It sure is a fine car. I was having devotions one morning and reading Ecclesiastes 5:18-20, “The enjoyment a person has in this life that the Lord gives us, is to enjoy the fruit of our labor” (my translation). We both enjoy driving it. We bought it from a man we know. It was his mother’s car.

Lane 2013Bob has received his diagnosis from his doctor. He has Rheumatoid Arthritis in both shoulders, arms, hands and neck. Remember him in your prayers. It is very painful without medicine.

Thanks for your prayers. Blessings in Christ Jesus our Lord and Savior.
