Wow, can you believe that in less than two months, we will have hundreds of team members climbing all over the Lord’s Boot Camp?!? LITERALLY over the walls and nets of the Obstacle Course at 6:15 every morning! What a rude awakening for all the squirrels, armadillos, snakes and any other animal on our 250-acre camp that has been peacefully minding its own business since all the kids left last year!
We are getting ready for the multitude! We have tents up, chairs out, Obstacle Course and busses being worked on, food ordered and being packed for our 32 teams, lights going up and many other projects in order to be ready for registration on June 7. That’s also the day we “kick” Jessica out of her nice soft bed and into her plywood floor tent with a sleeping bag for Boot Camp. She will be going to Panama and is excited about her adventure with the Lord this summer. Shawna, Darin and I are also excited about our team to the Philippines. We have the largest team we have ever led with 37 kids and leaders. It is going to be awesome to see what the Lord will do with this anxious group that want to see God work in their lives so they can carry His light to the Filipino kids at the children’s home and at the TMI base near Butuan City, Philippines. Brandon is making plans to visit grandma and grandpa on the farm in PA for a few weeks. Thank you to those who have given to the kids’ support. We still have about $1600 total to raise for both children.
We are a few short weeks from graduating our firstborn! May 17 is Graduation Day and Brandon is ready for it! We are proud of him and the blessing he is to many. At this time, he is planning to attend Brevard Community College next year, which actually will be changing to Eastern Florida State College as it will start offering four-year bachelor degrees. It also has classes offered by UCF (University of Central Florida). We appreciate your continued prayers for him as we will be busy with our team until August 10 and he will be preparing to start college in the middle of August.
Overall, I have been feeling pretty good. I have had bouts of discomfort from Crohns, but seems to be doing OK. We appreciate your prayers for good health this summer and that I will not have any flare ups and that we will all stay healthy.
Dave Charron, one of our members from the Teen Missions in Canada office in Saskatchewan, came down to bring equipment and help out in the office here for a few weeks in March. Dave showed up at our door at 9 PM the evening he arrived and said “do you think you would be able to find a place for my friend who helped drive down”? Shawna was shocked when her twin brother, Steve, walked up to the porch! What a great surprise!
Steve and Shawna were not able to be together for their 50th birthday last November, so he decided to surprise her and came down for the week. We had such a great time and the kids loved spending time with Uncle Steve. It is not very often that they see each other (maybe once every few years), so it was fun to go air boating, make fresh squeezed OJ, cheer Brandon on in tennis and just enjoy our time together. He also helped at TMI with some wiring and other odd jobs in the new offices. Steve left on a Monday, and we got a call that day from Shawna’s other brother, Len, that he and his wife, Teresa, would be coming to Florida with friends the next weekend. So, we enjoyed having them here for a few days also. Maybe we can get them all to come together next time.
My parents were able to come while the kids were off for Spring Break at the end of March. It was also over our 21st anniversary, so we were able to get away to Orlando for a night, while grandma and grandpa had a great time with the kids. They were able to see Brandon play tennis for the Merritt Island High School team while they were here. Brandon has enjoyed playing tennis with the high school the past three years. Their team won the District and
Regional Championships and went to the State Finals (where they lost to some very difficult teams). This is the first time their school has gone past Districts! They are a good bunch of guys and have really done well together and have become close. Five of them are Seniors so it is a great way to end their high school tennis involvement.
We are including our addresses and schedules so you can write and/or pray for us while we are involved this summer.

We can’t remember where we heard this quote, but it makes us think of our friends as well as supporters, and their faithfulness to us. “You make a living with what you get. You make a life with what you give.” Thank you for allowing us to be part of your giving and encouragement. We appreciate
your prayers for good health and wisdom as we lead this summer and serve Him.
