Dear Family and Friends,
Praise Reports from the USA and around the World!
Teen Missions was a national sponsor of the Winter Jam 2013 tour. It was hosted by Newsong and featured 10 bands including Matthew West, Sidewalk Prophets, Jamie Grace and Toby Mac. We were privileged to share about missions with more than 550,000 youth and adults in 52 American cities between November and the end of March. We had hundreds of conversations and rejoice over the many team members and leaders who registered for trips this summer to serve the Lord. I rode with Newsong and covered the first 7 weeks of the East Coast Tour. It was the longest we’ve been apart as a family.
Meanwhile, Winter Boot Camps have been running around the world in Australia, Zambia, Malawi, South Africa, Uganda and Honduras. Here are a few testimonies from our Honduras Boot Camp. They had 64 team members and 12 leaders on four teams. There were a total of 197 decisions for Christ. Praise the Lord!
“My testimony is that God used Teen Missions to change what kind of person I was. I was rebellious with my family, with my father. But God changed me completely! I am so thankful to God and I cannot pay Him.” Alexander
“The 10 days of Boot Camp were really hard for me because I was lazy, but God began to work on me. Then we went to the project, and it was difficult because it was uncomfortable and cold. But God continued working on me, He was breaking down my pride and a wrong way of thinking that I had before. Because when I used to go to church, I was just keeping a bench warm. I didn’t talk to anybody about Jesus. But on our project, we visited a lot of people. I could see that we brought happiness to the hearts of many children and adults through our testimonies and sharing about Jesus. This changed my life, my heart, and my way of seeing Christianity. Many people accepted Jesus Christ as their Savior. My heart is overflowing with joy because I could work for the Lord, putting aside the comforts that I had in my home. It has been worth it. God has dealt with my heart, He has opened my spiritual eyes, and I want to continue doing the same as I have learned at Teen Missions.” Melbyn
Spring: Anticipation— Preparation
The Big Tops are now up as our Florida staff begins to transition to the fast approaching summer program. I continue to
work in the Computer Department and on the TMI website in addition to teaching at the Bible, Missionary & Work Training Center (1 Samuel thru Esther). Summer preparations will include working to prepare the outdoor PA system, Security Cameras, Boot Camp computer network and Audio/Video systems. Gay has been very busy with homeschooling Timothy and Faith. Her Teen Missions responsibilities still include cooking for the students and visiting conferences and retreats, proofing the 2014 brochure copy (yes, we are working on that right now) and prayer letters, doing various other computer entry jobs, and overseeing the TMI volunteer trailers. She is also working to set up classes, teachers and projects for the summer Peanut Boot Camp. This will be her 12th year to coordinate this program.
Currently, we are re-assigned to the Indiana Evangelistic Team. We saw very fruitful ministry leading this same trip two years ago and are excited for what God has in store this summer as we share one on one with youth and adults attending the country fairs in Indiana, Kentucky and Illinois.
Petersens’ Fall Trip
We plan to head west this fall and would love to either see you over coffee or stop to share about missions with your church, youth group or school. Either way, send us an email or facebook if you are interested! Our route is likely to include the following states: Florida, Georgia, Tennessee, Kentucky, Missouri, Kansas, Colorado, Arizona, New Mexico, Texas, Louisiana, Mississippi and Alabama.
