Well, the Vanuatu team is going through it’s last day of training today. I think most of us would agree that the last couple of days have flown by. We have now tied Scotland for the greatest number of times to win the clean award, clinching the title for a grand total of five times! Needless to say, the pool has been much enjoyed. The team has really been bonding and some of the quieter team members have found their niches. Everyone looks forward to being entertained by Landon Armstrong’s “question of the day”, and we have recently discovered that Noelle Dobbs excels at blocklaying! It’s been a real blessing to have our assistant leader. Codah Conway, work with the team on their sign language skills, as she communicates through it fluently. We’ve incorporated it into our team’s evangelistic presentations, and even did a sign language cheer at rally (a Boot Camp first as far as we know). While Boot Camp has been a real good time of growth for the team, everyone is anxious to get out on the field as soon as possible. I’m convinced this team will be a powerful witness for Christ in Vanuatu, and am excited to see what God has in store for us this summer.
Isabelle Christensen – Lately in Boot Camp, I feel like I’m on a camping trip without my family. In my eyes, everything is only as fun as you want it to be. God never gives you anything you can’t handle. When I feel tired or stressed, I think of Matthew 11:28-30 saying, “Come unto me, all ye that labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. Take My yoke upon you, and learn of Me; for I am meek and lowly in my heart: and ye shall find rest unto your souls. For My yoke is easy and My burden is light.”
Noel Dobbs – Being here at Boot Camp has helped me realize that my strength alone isn’t always enough. Without God’s strength I can’t get very far, especially here. My relationship with God has grown so much these past two weeks just from asking God for help.
Israel Verduyn – It’s been an awesome last few days. The OC has really caused our team to work together. I am enjoying the classes and everyday jobs. God has been close to me and has comforted me a lot lately.
